Kings of War
« on: September 04, 2017, 02:18:41 PM »

Last week I had my 4th game of KoW.

I#m not totally convinced of the system. But as it is, it is one of the last regiment-based fantasy games.

Some thougts and a little AAR on my blog:

Cheers,

Looks very cool! I would've liked to see more closeups of the figures, especially the cavalry.

Looks a great game!

There are plenty of other regiment-based games around, though: Mayhem, Sword and Spear Fantasy and Hordes of the Things, for starters. All three can be adapted to any unit frontage (and all three are great rulesets).

Two others I had been considering before KoW presented itself as the path of least resistance (and a decent game -- though I agree with some of the things you mention on your blog) Legions of Battle (from Crusader Publishing) and Shadow Storm (fantasy mod. for Hail Caesar.)

Certainly KoW is not the last of its kind. But at least around here it is  the only one played by an big enough group of players to be considered a successor to WHF.

To The Strongest! is releasing a fantasy version of the game at some point in the near future as well.
