(Want some) Dungeon-type bases
« on: September 03, 2017, 12:03:52 PM »
I have a group of Fantasy-type figures I want to base on flagstone/dungeon-crawl 25mm square.

Time is short so I'm looking for minimum clean-up.  Thinking perhaps hard plastic would be best.

Any recommendations?

Renedra's are awesome. I use them for all of my fantasy miniatures. A shame they're not doing 40mm round flagstones though! Here's a picture of painted miniatures with the flagstone base:

Thanks guys.

The "rat" bases - very nice painting, by the way - I already have some of those, but wanted square for what I have in mind.

I think 20mm square might be too small, but I've bought a pack anyway.  And I've bought the Mantic pack too.  (Can never have too many bases.   ;) )

Thanks again.

There are square lasercut wooden bases - remember them from a press release by Sally 4th - http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2014/02/sally-4th-pre-painted-flagstone-bases.html?m=1

Not square, but recently I've done rather well with some of the round wooden discs from the craft store. Used by saw and knife to engrave the lines between stones and then painted them as stonework.

Fenris do dungeon labyrinth bases in various shapes & sizes, including 25mm square and 40mm rounds:

Probably a bit more expensive than some other options, but great quality - and their catalogue is always well worth a browse...

Second Fenris - all my fantasy models are based on either their Temple Flagstone or Cthulhu Temple bases, both of which come in square as well as round.

I have used a Lemax Christmas Village Pebble Mat for bases before.
It's made of a heavy plastic/vinyl type with raised stones.  It glues and paints very well, and cuts easily into any shape you want.
I've used it alone as a base, and I've glued it to washers.  Both work well.

Christmas Village Pebble Mat

The stones are a bit big for "realistic", but it's a dungeon so who's to say?
Cheap, easy, looks good.
