VSF Vehicles
« on: April 02, 2009, 06:24:08 AM »
Three pieces I am working on for a campaign to run in late May. Two boats and an Automaton.

The Nautiloid. Nemo's little runabout for quick trips down to Dover for the bowls matches

A torpedo boat for the Prussians.

One of the Boilermen. Creations of Professor Kittredge Pedler.

The Seacraft are each about a foot long and the boilerman is about 3 inches tall.

COOL! Looking forward to getting to play with them.  The boilerman looks very good.  Iron Paddy's cousin no doubt.

WOW Great stuff.
Tell us more, what are they made of? Are they kits or scratch built?
More pictures as well please.

Beautiful work. Especially keen on Nemo's ship and the Boilerman, but all three are just lovely. Entirely too good!:) Will these be making an appearance at Kubla?

Thanks, glad you like them.

The hull of the Nautiloid is made from a model submarine kit from the television show Seaquest DSV. The conning tower is part of an old GW Rhino variant turret and plastic card.

The Boilerman is made mostly from a Japanese capsule toy from Steamboy. The gun is part of a GW Dwarf Miners set.

The torpedo boat is a piece of wood with bits from an AT-AT model on the deck and parts of a Flagship games submersible for the bow section.

These are all part of the campaign I'll be running at Kublacon. We are doing a playtest of the opening naval action this Friday so I needed to get all the participants roughed out. The fight will aslo include another torpedo boat and a larger ship with at least one turreted gun, and two landing craft for the Prussians. The defenders start with a pair of steam launches fitted with deck guns and some shore defenses. The Nautiloid will make an appearance late in the game as an English reinforcement.

I'll put up some more pictures here and at the website as things progress.

Mike

A little progress last night. I brought torpedo boat #2 up to speed with #1, getting the smokestack and other deck fittings in place and then attached the hull siding to both boats.

We are playtesting the scenario and naval mods to our rules tonight.

Cool. Are you going to put torpedo ejectors on the deck?

Yes to the torpedo ejectors. I'm going to try and get those roughed out this afternoon. They'll mount on that round bit between the smokestack and the pedestal in the rear. There will also be some kind of quick firing gun mounted fore and aft.
