I think there is a connection...
« on: September 14, 2017, 06:20:36 PM »
Okay,

Few weeks ago, while on LAF, I saw someone posting about John Carter of Mars. I end up buying a bunch of figures from Bronze Age.
Then, a little later on LAF, someone posted about a new set of caveman hunting rules (Palao Diet). I then go and buy the rules and also figures from Irregular.
Now, a few days ago on this very site, someone posted about Max Maximilian Road Pulp rules. I have got the rules and I am ordering the
cars and figures.

So, given that I had no interest before seeing these posts in doing cavemen, John Carter or 1930's pulp race combat, I am beginning to think there
is a connect to my purchasing and LAF... have to do more research on this but I am seeing a pattern.   ;)

Stop now before it is too late!

I came to this forum in 2011. There had been a fairly long period in my life with no gaming or painting possible, but I had decided to start painting some pirates to get back into the hobby. Within about 2 weeks of joining this forum I discovered Pulp, something I had not been aware of before and started buying and painting figures. Since then I have started the following collections, in no particular order:

Pirates
Pulp
F&IW
Napoleonic
GoT
WWII
WWII Naval
VBCW
Darkest Africa
Zulu War
Dr. Who
Captain Scarlet
KKBB
Samurai
Fantasy
Old West
Mars Attack
Gothic Horror
Sudan
Romans
Arthurian
Witchfinder General
Frostgrave
Post-Apocalyptic
Three Musketeers
Zombies
Terminator
Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures
Imperial Assault

.............and probably more I've forgotten about!

I call it the Prof.Witchheimer Syndome and I fear there is no cure!   :o

Oh, it's totally a thing. I've had this same sort of experience both here and on other forums dedicated to other pursuits. Gotta be vigilant and take "objectivity breaks" from the forum(s) in question from time to time to keep that slide in check.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

I can be fairly strong and resistant about stuff on the forum if I have not already got an interest in it.....my achilles heel is when my mate has.been will say "I fancy playing a game of ----- what have you got for this ?"
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I used to paint just 40K and Warhammer stuff before I joined the forum.
Now I'm cured!  :D
I buy and (occasionally!) paint stuff from a couple of dozen manufacturers besides GW and have tonnes more stuff than when I started off here.
I'm cured!
I'm - er - cured ???
