Project updates Palestine
« on: October 04, 2017, 07:02:50 PM »
So with my main project stalled my inner butterfly has free reign and currently WW1 Palestine is currently in vogue.

They look great! -I visited your blog- and the Arabs too!
All your projects are very interesting, your inner butterfly is visiting all the flowers in the garden!
Happy to see you continue your GNW project, eager to see a game! Cheers!

Excellent work especially your miniatures on the blog.
Best wishes,

Nice work and great lighting in the photo. Could you give any pointers on your lighting? It really is very nice!

Thank you, the photography really isnt my strong point.

I now use my tablet for photos as this is just easier, I can load the pictures straight up to the blog or Flikr. In terms of lighting I put the tabel quite near the window so there is lots of natural light, but do it when its not strong direct sunlight. I then have a fairly large standing lamp which throws a lot of light out which I put quite near the figures and shining directly onto them, careful to come from a side if I can rather than the top as that adds loads of shadows.

Not sure if that helps?

This is an effective way to take pics. Natural light but not direct, plus a good source of light, brighter than the natural light, so that to avoid double shadows.
The light coming from an angle so that to highlight the details of the figures.
You are doing all right, keep posting pictures using this way of photographing, your figures are gorgeous! (So do your pics)  :)

Thanks for the kind comments, using natural light does mean you have to wait for the right time of day when its bright but not too bright.

The tablet is actually one my wife got really cheap and never used, its convenient as I can post pictures direct from it to the blog or Flikr rather than loosing some of the quality by emailing them to myself or similar. It sactually a chinese HUAWEI tablet! I have a wargaming chum who is a professional photographer and teaches photography on the open university, he also uses a tablet for photographing our games.

For my pics I wait till 7 pm during summer so that the sun is hidden behind some blocks of flats and the natural light is still ample but scattered.
It is great to have a professional friend to photograph your games! I regret so many interesting games of ours lost from memory because we had no good camera handy when needed...
