Advice on kitbashing with matchbox and hot wheels
« on: October 26, 2017, 06:52:06 PM »
So there's this new game coming out, Gaslands from Osprey (the folks who do Frostgrave) and I've always wanted to take hotwheels and glue guns to 'em.  I figured, now is my chance!

I found a site that has some 20mm (about 1:64 scale, or reasonable match up for Hot Wheels) bikes and accessories (Ramshackle Games), but was wondering if there are other things or ideas or sites I should also check out?

Anyone have any experience here?  I thought I'd see what ideas y'all might have, or if there are other resources online that might help.  I'm new to this scale, and am not quite sure where to start (aside from heading to the dollar store and picking up a handful of cheap chassis to start messing around with!!)

Back in ye old Dark future days, matchbox an hot wheels type cars I festooned with either GW 40k bits ,bearing in mind back then the bolters etc were a lot smaller,I used to cut the bolted down the middle and stick the front barrel end on front of cars or weapons pods and missles from 1/72 aircraft that could be got cheap.

Ebay is your best bet. But local charity shops and carboot sales are also good sources.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Pancake,
Google is very useful for this.
There are already tons of games just like this. Awesome pics on this forum alone.
Scratchbuilding is a great friend for this type of genre.
Stan Johanson has been selling weapon and armor kits for Matchbox/Hot Wheels since the days of Car Wars.
Brigade has an accessory kit.
There of course others.
Email me at Grimmnar at a O l and I will send you a nice PDF on making your own weapons.
Enjoy
