I had a damned good root around at York on Sunday. Unfortunately virtually all the mdf offerings were poor. Consisting of nothing but blank mdf silhouettes of girder frames.
In fact in the box girder bridge category Sarissa offered the most detailed frames. The only bridges that offered any real value, and scenario options were the Sarissa Canal bridges. Unfortunately I  couldn't find any dimensions on the website. As I got completely side-tracked with the gangs of Rome mdf.It slipped my mind to ask the actual dimensions for the span of these bridges.
In fact I came away with three sets, including the temple. Which is a very interesting piece of kit. It'll fit in with everything I do. It'll work as a civic building in a 20th century setting too,(law courts, city hall sort of thing.)

Right waffle over now I've seen what you've done with the canal I'd say save your money that bridge has done you proud.
I'd recommend you push the hedges back and have a towpath along the canal edge and a waist high brick wall behind the hedge on the town side(possibly not a continuous hedge row ,only even two three small shrub sized lengths.) then just one or two grass tufts the town side of the low wall, and the towpath side
As it'll give a more natural look and make the transition from one bank to the other, look less stark.
It's a trick I use on museum builds. It helps subtly draw your eye in the transition from rural to urban. Rather than green, green, green, wham town.

Mark.

That is a really good suggestion- I just don't know if I will have the time. What about a wooden fence? Not solid enough? Another thing is that this really started out as a North American town. The canals here don't have tow paths as most were initially built during the mid to late 19thC. Really, for a NA canal the width is quite compressed; the earlier ones were fairly narrow but the ones built last century are quite wide by comparison. For example, the modern (4th) Welland canal by the town of my birth, St. Catharines Ontario:

This is an example of one of the older locks of the second Welland canal, which is what I had in mind: I imagined this canal to be a retired older canal (hence the low foot bridge).

Absolutely what ever you feel would work.I think a wooden fence would add another layer of colour and texture.
A towpath is just a way of softening the transition. If it doesn't translate to your neck of the woods, then it doesn't translate. No biggie 😊.

At the risk of going all Jeff Goldbloom.on you life finds a way . The larger the scale the less sterile the transition .a rule of thumb - the smaller the scale the sharper the corners.

Just a few pieces finished; I am now waiting for some more stuff to arrive.

As everything I have in my possession is table ready i thought I would lay it all out:

Well... some success with water features :?.  My waterfall turned out fine:

... and I am reasonably happy with the ocean:

Thank you Panama. Really, it's just about all done. Some street terrain still hasn't arrived yet from the UK; it may not be finished in time. A third table was planned but not only do we not have a time/table slot available for it at Trumpeter's I spent the better portion of the last two weekends on it, only to have it look like shit. :( >:( So... I will have another crack at as I have 3 more weeks to get it figured out.

I may have missed this elsewhere but are your urban streetlamps railway modelling pieces?

I believe so; I bought them off ebay. They actually come wired.

Fantastic terrain. Very impressed!

We have a new figure pack called 'Everything but the Goose', which includes a small statue of a Gold Monkey that would be a great plot point to have in the cave behind the waterfall on your first table!
