Fall In! 2017 Epic Armageddon tournament pics

Here's the shots I managed to grab. We had ten people go this, up from the six we had last year. It was a good time with plenty of army variety and some great terrain.

Very nice!

I am surprised to see so few Space marines. But what a lovely variety of armies  :-*

Cool stuff. Great to see lots of Epic games.

The squat war engines are bonkers!

What is the army using the white and blue trucks?

Adeptus Titanicus was the game that first got me in to toy soldiers when Rodney Clark brought his dudes in to school to show off.

There are really great proxy miniatures available at the moment. Must get some.

Speaking of Space Marines, I always liked to conceptualise my dudes as Big. So does anyone make proxies for epic truscale/primaris Marines?

I must admit I don't really understand what is meant by truscale - I think it tends to translate to big?

Have a look at Vanguard miniatures, particularly their Novans they are certainly a good bit bigger than some of the original epic figures, while being notionally the same scale. I can snap some comparison pictures if it helps.

Please do!

Yeah, 'true scale' just means Really Big. I've alway been a big fan of the idea Marines should be big slabs of vat grown muscle and so the minis didn't live up to the art or the ideas in my head. In the past I've messed around with basing 3 marines to a base and made Imperial Guard out of heroics and ros 1/300 infantry based 7 to a base to make Marines look more epic and awesome like what they should.

But I dunno. Maybe now in the age of Primaris Marines I can do better than that.

Here we go

Left - first generation green plastic epic marines
Middle - Vanguard Novan Elites
Right - grey plastic epic marines

The vanguard guys are quite a lot taller than the epic figures.

Compared with epic terminators, the vanguard guys are fractionally taller, but not as bulky.

True scale was meant to mean artscale.
In the art Space marines are huge carapaced silhuetes dwarfing normal men.
But SM miniatures were of similar size and stature. So the idea to convert for artscale was born and thus what we known today as true scale movement.

So not just big but like this

And Artemis was miniature that started it

But thats really matter for another thread.
Sorry Evil Dave
