Size of TAG landys
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:22:01 AM »
Hello everyone,

I am not sure if this is really the best forum to ask, but my Q didn?t seem to really fit on any board, and this seemed like the least inappropriate place to post. So Mods, please move if you think it would be better elsewhere.

Anyway, I was hoping some one might be able to advise me on the compatibility of Gripping Beasts MoFo and Mongrel Minis ranges with The Assault groups Land Rovers, seen here:

http://www.theassaultgroup.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=635&cat=76&page=1

TAG infantry minis tend to be noticeably larger than Mongrel and MoFo, but I was wondering if anyone could advise if the vehicles scaled ok or not across the ranges?

Any info help, suggestions or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

can't help you with the size, but what put me off them was that they are lacking doors and windshield... they are stripped down versions only...

Oddly enough that very feature is what attracted me to them lol

I want to use them for mid 1960's to 1970's African skirmishes so the cut downs are perfect for that. I am just a bit nervous that they will not scale very well as TAG stuff seems to be noticeable bigger than a lot of other 28mm scale minis.

I find that figure ranges can take a bit of scale creep, but to my eye vehicles have to be pretty close to the figure scale or they really do look funny, but maybe that is just me?

They would be perfect for my needs if they scale ok with MoFo and Mongrel stuff. I looked at the BTD unit landy but the modification necessary to cut  it down and make it look decent is beyond me and a lot of the toys and kits available are just too big.

Any info you can scare up from Frothers would be gratefully received, I am not the best at searching forums and Frothers is not the easiest to get around at the best of times so if you have any leads I would be in your debt.

Maybe I should just wait till my eyesight deteriorates a bit more, there are few problems with scale that cannot be solved by squinting a bit more at the minis ;)

I don't know about the Landrover but their Humvee scales with other manufacturers' ones very well.

well I can't find where it cropped up on Frothers, so I asked...

it's 1/56 which popular opinion has is spot on for 28mm (although I have 1/50 and 1/48 to allow for my figs being on slottas) so should be fine...

Thank you for the info.

I think a spot of lunch and then some retail therapy are on the cards for this PM  :)

Cheers
