Am a latecomer to this thread but wanted to point out a very useful book that others appear to have overlooked (apologies if it's been mentioned). Sir James George Scott, a famous expert on SE Asia, covered the conflict for the London Evening Standard and wrote a readable account in a book, France and Tongking, which you can find on Amazon. It's on Kindle too.

War and Peace in Hanoi and Tonkin is also very good. The English translation is published by Silkworm Books, while the original French is available online (and easily decipherable thanks to the wonders of the Google Translate app - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjz40Gcs0ps).

Hello Ged,
Will 2024 see the release of rules for Tonkin? As the end of the year is near, to every one Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and some Gringo’s stuff under the Christmas tree?

Hard to believe that it's been 6 years since this range started. Started off great and then died.

The problem is that if you have one sculptor who wants to satify the market he has to do several ranges. I remenber at Crisis when Ged had fewer miniatures and a few ranges i didn’t want to buy because it would take longe before having enough references to play. But now i bought from the Tonkin range and they are lovely! I think we gamers want to have acces to a complete range immediatly but that takes time! Thats my opinion. Even the Perry’s when they start a new range it takes a bit of time , they are with two and also work with plastic wich give you a big starting point. Big companies like Victrix work with 3D design, go’s faster. But Ged who sculpts every figures thakes time.!

Yes I agree with what you say but Ged's modern Vietnam range took off so he focused on his most popular range.

Marco, the wargaming world is hard lol lol always waiting for those miniatures coming out and some ranges are more liked but still starting a range like Tonkin or other rare periods is nice for some.
