LOS blockers
« on: November 25, 2017, 11:51:30 AM »
Admittedly these are not very spectacular or outstanding in any way, but some voices found the forum too quiet recently and therefore I shy not away from showing also minor builds - even though they are dirty and rough. I hope you forgive me.
I made a few quick and simple terrain pieces of pink foam which will hopefully help to block both line of sight and missiles in our next Frostgrave adventures. In foresight to keep them generic for Ghost Arhipelago as well, I avoided a particular frosty look by leaving snow and ice away. For the same reason they show no mossy green or grass tufts. The shield maiden is simply shown for size comparison...

I wanted these ruins to show no specific signs of their former purpose. Therefore they are randomly shaped and will hopefully fill the table to a believable degree of representing some ruined city. I hope some white cloth on the tabletop will help with the snowy look to make viewers say "Frostgrave" by a glance on that table. What do you think?
Well, the random shapes do actually have one purpose though: Correctly arranged in some Tetris way they make up a tower to save storing space.

I thought a couple of trees could add life to the frozen (now thawing, isn't it?) city as well...

These were made of hard plastic H0 scale fir trees from the model railway supply an glued on top of some old CDs.

I like them.
A lot.

All games really benefit from what I think of as 'table fillers' and when they are nicely made and consistent it really adds to the effect.
Those trees are great too, I shall have to remember them when I need something for colder climes.
Thank you.

I like the "LOS blockers" very much. They look as though they performed a role in the past. In other words, they don't look as though they are any old bit of scenery chucked on a LOS blockers but something which originally had a purpose which also happens to restrict LOS.

I'm rambling. I like them and they have authenticity. A lot of Frostgrave games would benefit from them.

Sorry, did you say terrain? I-I can't take my eyes off the shield maiden...

Ah the good old ex-Airfix/Dapol trees, haven't seen them for years.
Nice work.

Like the idea of the stackable scenery too.

Nicely done Michi! 8) You’ll need to get some shots of your table set-up mate.

They look great, and a great idea on making them stackable.

Were these simply cut out of a single block of foam? Are they each one piece or several pieces glued together? They are great.

These are cut from a 40mm foam. All above 40mm is cut from another layer of 40mm foam and glued on with white glue. Nothing is higher than two layers though. Any layer is one piece with some additional rubble/stones glued on top.

Michi these look great, relativity simple and I imagine quite quick to turn out, an excellent addition to any table.

I second the request to see them on the table but would be very interested to see a picture of how you stack them because this seems to me to be the true genius of these pieces. Good looking and space saving, what's not to like.

Completely off topic a few years ago you posted some rules for a cave man game something to do with chasing cave women. I have searched for it to no avail, do you remember where you posted it and roughly when?
Cheers
