Old Bones 2
« on: December 04, 2017, 02:29:28 PM »
Painted up some zombies too, for my undead hordes. I will add the old photos from the previous thread here, once I get them uploaded on the image server.

Will take some better pics as well, the zombies are in all sorts of colors but they look a bit washed out in this picture.

This one's the old Red Box wraiths with headswaps from Mantic plastic skeletons.

The Deadites do look SPLENDID. You have a flair for the subject. OUTSTANDING WORK!

I wouldn't have thought of those head swaps on the wraiths, but they look good! And I like the weathered look you gave them.

Very jealous, I've been wanting those wraith minis...

Very nice. The head swaps on the wraiths look great.

Great job.  The head swaps are good.  Redbox do tend to have teeny weeny heads.  They look very similar to the Mierce Miniatures ones, just at a fraction of the cost.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, the original heads were really odd, tiny as you say, and bare too. I first tried adding some helmets or crowns, but I suck at sculpting, so I found these heads in the sprue I got from a forum member here. I am much happier with these.

Another small thing I modified was the ends of the 'dresses'. They were all sharply pointed, so I filed, twisted and bent them a bit to make them more 'finger-friendly' and natural looking (I think at least).

Managed to paint a couple more undead, so now I got a little army of them. The Ghost King (?) in the middle is Reaper Bones one, I am not really happy with the result, as all highlights came out pretty flat. I guess my painting style isn't suited for these, so I must try to bring out them highlights more in the future. The Otherworld minis I like a lot, but all their stuff is great, you get what you pay for, eh?

Here's a group shot and some older shots of my undead:
