Solo wargaming on a tea tray

Has any one found any sort of wargame they could play solo on a small table? I thought this would be an interesting challenge to design a game around but I wanted to see what others hand done first.

I remember old white dwarf articles where they had used epic minis to represent 40k and made a car friendly 40k (with some pins). But I'm looking for something you could play solo. Like you throw the box into your bag, spend the night in a hotel and can play this game and get a challenge out of it.

Not exactly what you are talking about as they are boardgames but some of the solo games by Victory Point games, particularly the 'states of siege'titles are excellent.

There is a few rule set called Marston Less.
It uses a small board. I have played it for several
periods using 15mm, 6mm and 2mm. The size of the
board can be downsized with the smaller scales.

Haven't played it myself (mainly because it can't quite pass my wife's 'do you really need it' interrogation'), but my eye oft wanders over to Pocket Quest. Most character 6mm minis I've seen.

Try something like Bolt Action or Chain of Command with 6mm minis and use cm instead of inches - you can get away with a play area of about 60cm squared or so.
It will be dead cheap too

Gladiators would be a good subject for a small game (Jugula fits on a board about 1 foot square, but that's no good for solo play).

We Really Really need Furtz Blood on the Sand ruleset he playtested on here. that was so good!

Battle Troll from Pulp Action Library could work. Movement is by card and combat is a also a card draw. Small groups of Vikings searching for loot and glory.

Mighty armies is marketed as playable on a 2x2.

One hour wargames can be even smaller!

there's also travel battle from the perry brothers, which comes all in one box and could easily be stashed under a car seat/bottom of a suitcase.

I'm working on small 30cm boards at the mo - I'll be using 28mm rules designed (or that work) for 2x2 (Pulp Alley, FiveCore, Open Combat) then swapping inches for cm - that way a 30cm board becomes well over a 2x2 (effectively 30 inches squared).

You could use 2 hour wargames rules for the solo aspect and if you search for the wargaming addict he did a series of 6 games on a tablet I think. The last game was on youtube. These were based on the nuts campaign in northern France ww11 or if you are strapped for cash use the free chain reaction rules from the same company.

Taking this as a base You could easily transpose this onto a magnetic notice board, either as a counter based game or use small scale figures, either drawing your terrain on the board or again using small scale scenery with magnets stuck underneath.

I was going to do this myself but instead used the time to paint figures.
