Antigonid Successor Project - Some light cav added.
« on: December 08, 2017, 07:25:01 AM »
I started this project at the start of November but I forgot to post anything here in LAF.

I decided on Antigonids/Macedonians because these same troops will easily sub as Pyrrhic or Pontic if I want them to. They can even sub as just about any other successor troops too. My cunning plan is to build up basic core of units and then add various other units/allies so that they can cover the entire period from Antigonas Monopthalus right through to Philip V.

This project actually goes hand in hand with my ancient galleys that can be seen here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=104987.0

Here are some pics but there are lots more on my blog at: http://this28mmlife.blogspot.com.au/2017/12/my-antigonids-get-some-thracian-allies.html

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

You started in November! And you have already painted all that stuff! Wish I would work so fast!  :o

Great project, by the way.

Glad you remembered now! Always had a soft spot for Alexander and the successors.

Some commanders for my troops. I got a bit stuck with the mounted guys. I've never painted leopard skin before and kept forgetting to research how to do it. But I remembered to do it last night and got the job done.
I think I might have get the Xyston, Antigonus Monophthalmus set for my general.  ;)

I've added a unit of peltastoi to my growing Antigonid army. A nice, colourful unit (I like painting that purple).

I have a problem with unit size that I've detailed on my blog. If you can, please take the time to have a read and give me any advice that you may have, or opinions you may like to share.

Cheers.

Things have slowed on the Macedonian front and a burst of Napoleonic painting has taken over for the time being. But I have managed to finish of another syntagma of pikes before this pause (this unit and all the others I've posted have also been increased to 4 ranks deep).

I've done a fair bit more on this project since I last posted anything. I re-based all of my pike to bring them in line with most of the popular rules being played. I've also added a few new units and some of the existing units have been expanded.

What's new...

Some more phalangites.

Some Thacians.

An elephant.

Some euzenoi.

Being a cheapskate, I decided to make my own camp for my Successors in order to avoid outrageous postage from Italy. Made using SuperSculpey.

And a new unit of euzenoi.

Very nice indeed.  I like the scratch built/sculpted tent.

I added some Thessalonian light cavalry to my army. It's only a small unit but large enough for Sword & Spear and MEG.
