Indian Mutiny project
« on: December 19, 2017, 09:34:03 AM »
I'm starting a BIG Indian Mutiny project! I'll use this thread as a hobby log to keep the momentum flowing - comments and suggestions greatfully received.

First up I've started basing some mutineers and horses for warrior cavalry:

More wordage on my blog (http://eldritchepistles.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/indian-mutiny-project-mutineers-and.html).

cheers,
Steve

Interesting period to wargame, one I have always thought about but done nothing about, so will be following you with interest. :)

Steve
Well done getting into this period.
Myself and a few mates did the same thing earlier this year.
Did the research, read the books, then went out and bought the shiny figures.

We really enjoy the period and are successfully using the Osprey MWWBK rules.
They are nice and easy and have a good feel to them.

For figures we have mainly stuck to Empress figures as they sell the iron duke range which is expanding all the time.

I did post a piece entitled The ambassadors residence which got good reviews on this forum, but due to photobucket issues, the pics have all disappeared. I can repost them if they would help ?

All in all, a good period, with good rules, and some good colours involved on the figures.

I’d say go for it.

I'd love to see those pics - feel free to post them or PM me if you prefer. I've heard a lot about MWWBK but not played it yet. Is it suitable for mass battles or should I go for something like Black Powder? I've not played that either!

I'm sure everyone would appreciate another look at your pics if you can manage to find somewhere new to host them, Flatpack.

Looking forward to seeing how this develops, Steve.

I have been tempted by the period too, partly as a result of reading Flashman very late in life.  Maybe I have one more new project in me before I accept that I really do have all I can ever play with and a bit more.  It would then be a choice between the Indian Mutiny, NWF and the Sudan.

Good luck with your project, and keep the pics coming!

Are you painting the figures with them already glued to the bases? I don't know how you can do that, I've tried once but there was always another figure in the way and I thought it made the fiddly bits well, even fiddlier. I'll be interested to see how they turn out. I have a friend who is just finishing an Indian Mutiny project using Iron Duke figures, very nice they are too. Which part of Lincs are you in as I'm in Lincs too?

Yes I'm going to try painting them on the bases, but I may yet regret it! I'm in north Lincs. What about you?

Steve, you ask if TMWWBK, would be ok for mass battles ?
Here’s a photo of our last game, with about 20 units in it.

Any good ?

Reposted more photos against “The ambassadors residence”, if they help.
