Thunderbolt mountain...
« on: December 22, 2017, 12:57:46 PM »
If you were planning to place a last minute order, it's too late!
https://www.thunderboltmountain.com/

Original closing dat was 25 december, but it looks like they changed to closing date.

Anyway, my last order from them should be on the way.  :)

I had been thinking about wolf riders and was awaiting an email from another manufacturer.  The Thunderbolt Mt ones were my back up plan.  With the change in the date it looks as if my choices have been made for me  :'(

The exact day I got money on and had planned to buy some of those Arthurians?

*sigh*

I'm gonna need another drink.  :?

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

I was tempted to finally buy the goblins, but 6 years of waiting to do it means I probably didn't want them all that.much!
Still, too bad to see the company go.

Well, that's a shame. What's the point in advertising a date if you then decide to suddenly close three days early?

I so wanted the elves. Heart attack and medical bills said no.

His work was some of the first, better figures (goblins and elves)  I bought back in the late  1970's, when it was being sold by Ral Partha.  Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.

This...

If you were planning to place a last minute order, it's too late!

...and this...

I was tempted to finally buy the goblins, but 6 years of waiting to do it means I probably didn't want them all that.much!

...actually summarise my situation pretty well. After wrapping up my work matters on Friday, I was planning to sit down and check my shopping list. Apparently not then. However, I had been checking the site for years, never feeling any immediate need to buy a thing. Just not compatible with anything on my top 10 project list, hence most likely destined to the bottom layers of the lead mountain. I think I do have one classic Thunderbolt mini, which has been there for five years already...and a bunch of Ral Partha...and...

Well, I don't want to blame Tom too much if he wants to retire after 40 years. Sticking to the announced closure date would have been nice, though.

Almost forgot to add a simple sad note of late praise

Ordered on 11/12/2017, my small package of elves and other bit were in my hand on the 27/12/2017.

So hats off to them on international deliveries

I wish I had/could have ordered more. I wish I had ordered sooner and more often

Praise for of course the skill and quality of sculpting, they are gorgeous.

They also happen to be the best castings I have ever seen in metal. They shame the rest of my mountain so much I have to keep them separate.

There may well have been an issue in that they did not like casting their minis, or he did not, but damn, they can cast them beautifully.

I know its already been said - but really hope someone is able to negotiate getting hold of, and offering them again - they may not cast them as well, but at least they will be available.
