Hi again!

This time I've got some Umbers! This time of the Hother 'Whorsebane' Umber faction, who fights with (though, not very enthusiastically) House Bolton. In A Dance with Dragons, House Umber is split between the two Umber brothers, Mors and Hother, with Hother taking all the old greybeards, and Mors keeping all the green boys, (I'm subscribing to the theory that Hother is on a suicide mission to cause mischief and mayhem, but that's neither here nor there)

For the greybeards I went with the Antediluvian Miniatures Scots range, there's a lot of beardy, slightly scruffy looking types that I thought would fit in with the "hastily assembled militia with whatever equipment we have left" look!

And here's a few of my favourites from the bunch, the sculpts are wonderful and I'd highly recommend the range

I decided to give the Umber 'roaring giant' sigil a go, but I've found it's very difficult to make it not look a bit goofy, so I made do there!

Let me know how they've turned out!

I think they look great! Excellent choice of minis for their intended role.

I Was just eyeing these figures earlier today (for a Mormont army). Excellent paintjob, and love the models!

Hi again!

So I've been working on finishing off the main bulk of Stannis' forces in The North, but to break things up from snowy men-at-arms I've also been working on some named-character conversions (just to save me having things TOO similar to straight-builds of the Perry kits like in my Burgundian project!).

So for a start I decided to make another variant of King Stannis, to represent a battle-ready version of his A Clash of Kings pre-character-development self. Though at the same time, his armour is based on the description Jon gives in A Dance With Dragons: "Grey Plate" with "his breastplate had a flaming heart inlaid above his own"

And here's him in comparison to my older A Dance With Dragons Stannis from about 2-and-half years ago! I've tried to keep the posing consistent between the two, even if the newer one doesn't have a big flowing cloak (It's not cold yet!)

I was going to try my hand at some object-source-lighting for Lightbringer, but I wasn't quite brave enough for that yet!

Hi again!

After quite a long while I've got another update, there's been a lot of GoT/ASoIaF posts on the forum lately so that's inspired me to get to work on some of my backlog!

This time, for some reason, I wanted to have a go at kitbashing together some of the City Watch of King's Landing, the Gold Cloaks!

Rather than the show's more Ottoman look for them, I went for the more drab description in the books, using the Dark Sword gold cloak figure as a guide. They're described as wearing black mail, boots and gloves, to go with their cloaks (I always imagined them to be just...metaphorically gold, rather than literally gold though). The armour itself, at the same time rather than going for fully black metal, I decided to go for more of a look of some dark blued steel

...Incidentally, having the corrupt city watch wear "black mail" is a bit on the nose, isn't it?

Gold Cloak officers get described as having black breastplates with four golden discs on, so I tried to get that across with the chap leading the unit

And here's a shot of the cloaks themselves:

To go with the spearmen, I put together some skirmishing crossbowmen as well

And here's the bunch all together

Really like your take on them, makes a lot of sense. Good builds too, Are they Fireforge scandinavians? Best take I've seen on those if so.

Yup! The spearmen are Fireforge Scandinavians, with Perry HYW heads and Anvil Industries cloaks (with a bit of green stuff), the crossbowmen are Perry crusaders with the same HYW heads and Anvil Industries cloaks

Making these guys really made me realise how amazing it'd be if Fireforge allowed us to buy big bags of their cloaks though!

Lovely job mate, a sound bit of reasoning on the colour scheme and well-executed

What’s their bribe level...still five gold dragons?

Thanks everyone!

 :)

This got me thinking (seeing as I was going through the audiobooks as background noise while doing these), and it looks like Littlefinger only sets aside one golden dragon for each rank-and-file gold cloak! What a cheapskate!...Janos Slynt gets 2000 all to himself though
