No, this type of ship is the first one, but i have started the Half Moon before where I have learned a lot of things (reread as: made a lot of mistakes I hope to avoid this time...)

An Angle Grinder is an awesome tool to work with... next step is starting with clueing the first planks

Ah the Half Moon is an important part of my local history (Hudson Valley, NY).  Are you steaming those planks? - they bend like noodles when they are steamed

Thanks everybody for the nice comments

Planking the chinese junk is a time-consuming activity, waiting until the clue is dry enough for the next plank to be fixed. So the idea was born to build a second ship, this time an Aviso class ship for the french navy that is faster and more heavily armed than any chinese junk. The plan is taken from tin-soldiers, its the "water witch" paper model upscaled to 1:50

First step: the inner structure

See, now that's only possible when you have a team behind you. It's the cat, isn't it?  :D

Thanks guys. In fact I have a large team assembled, two cats and a dog...

Meanwhile...

Parts of the decks of the water witch are now planked. I have found some old Foundry guns in my lead mountain and waiting for the big gun to arrive ordered by HLBS.

The lower part of the Red Dragon hull and the decks are finished, now the sides are build up.

And now to something completely different...
Yesterday a chinese laser cut model kit of a junk arrived. Its a very nice model bought via ebay http://www.ebay.de/itm/chinesische-Segel-Zhoushan-Segelboot-aus-Holz-Modell-Satz/321661758918?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649, but it's too small and would fit to 10mm or 15mm.

So everything is scaled up to 166% and by now the inner structure is more or less ready.

I love your build as I am into all things Chinese! Plus it is a very neat and tidy build. You and your team are extremely productive and I hope that you will continue to show us the side builds in your shipyard  :D

Many thanks for the replys, but today I can show a perfect example of ill-advised, because my team and I were...

- ill advised to build the third ship too fast  lol
- ill advised to not build the lower structure of the hull first  lol
- ill advised to clue the sides one after each other  lol

and the whole structure bends while drying...  :'( :'( :'(

The Red Dragon ship is, so far, amazing! :o....I’m sure you’ll work out the problems with the new one! 8)
