Viking fantasy in progress [2018-01-06]
« on: December 30, 2017, 11:02:27 PM »
Heavily inspired by fellow blogger KampfgruppeEngel and his take on Norse mythology/Viking mashup "SkÀgglavsfantasy" I purchased the rules for Blood Eagle a while back and have since then slowly been assembling models for the "baddies". I already have a large viking force for SAGA that I intend to use as protagonists, and painted up a horde of ghouls and zombies.

Recently I purchased a bunch of Red Box Games miniatures and received the order a few days ago - which broke my painting hiatus by putting some paint on two fantastic troll sculpts.

More pictures of the trolls over at my blog:

Also some of the other minis I already painted up (Undead horde of skeletons, zombies, ghouls, wights, liche king etc) can be seen over at my blog following this link. I will be posting re-sized pictures of them all in the near future. Some of my old posts have received HD sized pictures due to me migrating my entire catalogue from Photobucket to another host, http://anatolisgameroom.blogspot.se/search/label/Frostgrave

Those Forest Trolls are cool models, and a great paint job on them.  Blood Eagle is a fun system, we haven't done anything with the fantasy monsters yet but will have to do so.
So many games, so little time.

Anatoli, would the game be adaptable to a Tolkien setting or a more high fantasy setting with greater emphasis on magic (such as a D&D-type setting)?
Does the game play well solo?

I have that second troll model - Tre Manor does some great sculpts.

You painted it beautifully, and absolutely KILLED the bark!

Thanks again for the kind words guys.

@Ethelred the Almost Ready
I think so. The game has ready to play profiles for both human and supernatural/fantasy elements. But if there is something missing then you can make it yourself using the "building system" in the book that allows you to craft both characters and weapons to your liking using the points balance. I created my own profiles for some weapons and units myself to make them more to my vision.

Most of the goblins painted up, still have some orcs and goblins left to do.

They are a SPLENDID gang of DELIGHTFULLY seedy looking Goblins. Your brushwork, basing, & choice of colors are WONDERFUL...I see some truly magnificent noses in the group. The Little Guys work well with the TERRIFIC Trolls. VERY WELL DONE!
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Thanks DeafNala, your thread of awesome mushrooms and whacky miniatures served as part of my inspiration  ;)

I like those  red noses.  Are the goblins fond of alcohol? :D

A great take on the RGB goblins! Very very well done and well blended.
Mine are halfway done since a long time, i should grab the brushes and get back to them!

I like those  red noses.  Are the goblins fond of alcohol? :D

Those noses are really asking for that! I did the very same on my figures, with a stronger contrast.

Cheers
Jack

Love what Engel did with the whole Nordic fantasy thang, so will be following this very closely. Already looking extremely tasty!

Wow. Didn't know such models existed. You've painted them nicely indeed!
