Great work guys, but rewards must be showered upon Dylan, well done. I hope J?rgen hasn't been in the desert for too long!  8)

Humour, choice of miniatures and quality of painting; all trademark Plynkes. Lovely!

I was first blown away by the coolness of the first entry but then I saw the second one. Wow...that is just awesome. I never imagined German camel riders. The "hunter" is the best of them all. You can see the frustration on his face...so cool!

Although the first miniatures are really nice, the second are imho the winner (would love to see more detailed pictures!).

I voted for the first one because I really like the use of 40k and Warzone models. The other entry is nice too of course! 8)

Plynkes,
what make of those camel Schutztruppen?

Tiger Miniatures, mate. These are the ones I've been moaning about on the forums, swearing never to buy any more ever again. To be honest, the camel troops and their mounts aren't bad (but I still dislike whatever metal Tiger uses, I find it really hard to get the mould lines out), but the foot figures are not very nice.  J?rgen is the only one I've finished. The rest of the dismounted versions are languishing on the painting table half-done.

(would love to see more detailed pictures!).

This is my Southwest Africa mini-project. It's all Hammers' fault, as he gave me two (OOP) HLBS camel troops that he had painted as a gift. I felt sorry for them never getting to play in any games so looked around for some pals to turn them into a proper unit, and found the Tiger ones. The real unit size is six, I felt a bit bad leaving Hammers' fine figures out of the group shots (they always get left out of everything), but it wouldn't have been cricket to submit someone else's work to the LPL. But I'm also doing an infantry unit, a field gun and a command group. When all is done I'll post more detailed pics of the whole shooting match on the Colonial Adventures board.

Congrats to my worthy opponent Sinewgrab on a great entry.

Who makes the Ostrich figure...that is hilarious. By the way, the painting for both is great. Good luck!!

Sorry mate, I asked for reason.
I think that those camel riders are the best Tiger miniatures.[I have not seen the new ranges so far]
There is, I an afraid a problem  either with the metal or the casting tiger uses. That is why I am always saying tha Tiger is improving with the new ranges.

Anyhow, you did a remarkable job here!

I agree the camel riders are the best figures from Tiger that I have seen. They are much nicer than the foot figures. Hopefully, as you say, the company's products will continue to improve as they gain more experience. I won't slag them off any more. I've gone on about the rough time I had with them enough as it is. I don't want to step over the line from honest criticism into some kind of obsessive forum nut, relentlessly hating away at things. I think it they have turned out all right in the end.  :)

Hitman, the ostrich is from an HLBSC pack of three. One running, one standing, and one burying its head in the sand (couldn't decide whether it was more fun for J?rgen to be chasing a running one, or sneaking up on a head-burier, of course really he would probably just have shot it). Unfortunately they no longer sell them. Many of the ranges they have discontinued have been picked up by other companies (some by Tiger Miniatures I think, interestingly enough), but the last I heard was that the African animals range was the only one that hadn't been acquired by another firm. That's a real shame as there are some great models in that range. I bought up a bunch of them when I heard the range was being dropped. I even have meerkats for DSWA now! Maybe I should enter a team of meerkats in the League. Simples!  :)

Your minis are great, no doubt about that (and I know what I'm talking about trying to paint German uniforms myself - they don't turn out half as good as yours). The tank could use a little more details. e.g rusty spots, a little dirt here and there. Had I been allowed to hand out percentage points you'd have got your share.
