Over the Hills - Second Battle of Oporto Playtest
« on: January 24, 2018, 05:34:34 PM »
This particular scenario took a little more work knitting together the various aspects that characterised this famous assault crossing during the Peninsular War

The game kept on giving and we kept on playing to see how it would end, coming up with a teetering climax in the last turn.

Have you used the extra rules? Especially the extra Fatigue rules. If so how do you find them. Until now we've mostly played with just the basic rules and then the additional formations. All the extra tests where you could receive more fatigue seemed quite a chore to use and seemed like it might slow down the game a bit.

We are using all the extra rules with a few exceptions with ones we don't subscribe to, but hey that applies to most Wargamers!

To help get our knowledge up to speed we are putting together our own QRS that has all the extra rules on there to speed referencing them, plus a few others that we have added.

We have not found it time consuming at all and if anything we get through the turns incorporating them because that is the way we play and are becoming unconsciously competent with little reference to the sheet or the book which I would suggest is the sign of a good set of rules. We really like the extra simulation the added rules give to the game and wouldn't really think of playing the basic set.

Once the test are complete which will be the case this week I will publish the QRS we have complied. I it's want to make sure it is complete and nothing pops up in this final test game.
