Warlord & Wargames Factory plastic 28mm size compatibility?
« on: January 25, 2018, 08:15:28 PM »
Warlord have one of their periodic Sprue Sales on right now, and I've been considering some conversions to expand my English Civil War/Thirty Years War forces, especially into weird directions like possible 17th C Cthulhu cultists or similar skirmish gaming strangeness!

I have a bunch of leftover Warlord Pike & Shotte plastic pieces, including a whole bunch of right arms with pistols or swords from their cavalry sprues, but I'm short on left arms and matched pairs of arms because of how the cavalry riders are made - the left arms are integral to the torso/legs/head, only the right is separate.

I noticed that the Wargames Factory Saxon Fyrd Warriors sprue set includes separate heads and whole bunches of paired arms with open hands.

Anyone mixed both in conversions? Are the WF Saxon bits roughly size-compatible with Warlord's P&S plastics?

In my experience, both lines are pretty much compatible sizewise, even though I find most of the WF products somewhat softer and rougher in the detail. But only slightly so.

However both have different systems for attaching the heads (nubs on the one and angled, flat necks on the other), which means you need to do some slight putty work to get the heads to fit properly.

Other than that, I'd say go for it...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

While I have not mixed parts, I did mix gripping beast vikings and wgf huscarls together in a unit and it looked good.

Good to know, many thanks!

All the Warlord ECW/TYW plastics have heads and torsos molded together, I'll be getting on with the beheadings to swap heads around anyway, so the differing neck designs won't matter as much.

Turns out my brother (who posts here as Burgundavia) has a whole box of WF Saxon Fyrd warriors still on sprue, so I'm going to loot and pillage from his stash for some test figures before I commit to buying more stuff.
