Sagar rules doubt
« on: March 15, 2018, 10:59:06 AM »
Hi

This has come out in a Facebook group for Saga that I am following.

In the Viking battleboard there is an ability, Njord whose wording in English is: "Activation. Remove a fatigue from each unit within M of your Warlord"

It looks very straightforward, right? However, the doubt is: does it affect all units, friendly and enemy alike, or only at friendly units?

Per rules as written (RAW) also enemy units would be affected by the ability, therefore losing one fatigue. On the other hand, in the main rulebook (p.41) under Activation it specifies that "Your Activation abilities can never activate enemy units". Here is the thing: which units are considered activated? Only activates the Warlord and therefore no other unit is activated? Or is an activation that affects every unit within M of the Warlord, him included? In which case only would affect friendly units... Moreover, is considered a Rest activation for all units affected?

I wonder if someone has the battleboard in French, in the original, and if it is more clear there.

Ignore the question. Alexander Buchel has answered in the group. His words (in case you are interested):

Quote
Yes, all units are affected, friendly and enemies. Makes it a bit more tricky to use.

Also, it does not activate any units. All it does is remove fatigue.

It's a pretty good ability this one. Use your warlord to push units forward, not forgetting you can activate a unit for free from the Warlord special rule (we obey? I forget the name). Then use Njord. Your warlord is at the rear of the troops, further than M from enemy, so only friendly troops will benefit. Situational, yes, but a good way to get your foot troops to cover a fair distance and not be knackered when they get there, fresh for chopping up the enemy.
