The church bell has arrived.

The bell was very kindly donated by Mason (thank you Paul!  8)) and is from a GW Skaven kit.

The bell is perfectly-sized, being shown here in its raw form.

I expect that I will trim off the lower part of the flared rim for a bit more room in the tower. I’ll also remove most of the decoration. I have in mind the poor victim to be suspended from it, who will be magnetised.

BTW, the milliput is in the throes of being tidied up.  ;)

Great minds think alike! ;)

Oh bloody hell! What a coincidence  :o

Clearly I read your thread at the time (was it really 2016?!) but I can claim no credit for using the part on this project, as that was down to Mason who suggested it and kindly gifted it to me.  8) :D

Basics of the bell and belle are now done. Needs GS to tidy up a bit, create the petticoat and also dangling hair.

Great job cleaning up the bell.  You would not realize it was originally a Skaven item.

Just went through this entire thread and am still in shock and awe.

This must be one of the most ambitious builds on LAF to date.

Simply incredible - bravo SI.

You’re being way too kind! But thank you.  :)

Am about to spray the exterior of the church, after which the windows can be installed. This leads me to the next conundrum, how to decorate the large stained glass window?

The project is, as its name suggests, set in Whitechapel, though the board is not a replication of the area but a construct from its various parts and from neighbouring parishes. For example the church is styled on the Georgian era Christ Church, Spitalfields, which is in white Portland Stone. The Victorian church in Whitechapel (since burned down) was a red brick affair but for the project I want a ‘white chapel’, and the original medieval church had been exactly that, being plastered and lime-washed.

So as I’m playing somewhat fast and loose with location to suit my project needs, I’m free to choose what the heck I like for stained glass window.

I was thinking perhaps St. George Vs The Dragon, as a metaphor for the church being the house of the good who exist to subdue the lurking evil. The dragon being representative of the vampire menace.

The Victorians enacted a programme of church restoration (in reality re-styling, with Medieval churches of 1260/1360 as their guide). With this in mind, I quite like this wall painting from St Peter and St Paul, Pickering, Yorkshire, which dates from about 1460. I’m inclined to elongate it to fit the window and brighten the colours, though I might be thinking ahead of my abilities  :o.

Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions etc? Ta.

That would be great,St. George that is. As for actually painting the window, hmm,I often use the clear shells from miniatures, whether that would work? I have also considered using gloss varnish(the micro scale fixer), but that would mean a more impressionist representation.
Anyway look forward to seeing what you do :)

Hi Guy

A bit more explanation, for the glass I glue clear styrene to the lasered window frame. What I’m contemplating for the big church window is painting onto what will be the interior of the glass with a glossy, translucent acrylic, then varnishing over.
