Balancing AT-43 forces in Galactic Heroes
« on: February 03, 2020, 09:21:41 PM »
So as part of my first multi-player game with Galactic Heroes I am building a scenario. I posted a copy of the first draft on my blog

https://zacgaming.wordpress.com/2020/02/03/galactic-heroes-multi-player-scenario-first-draft/

So my main issue, for this first version, I am using some AT-43 figures while I collect and paint some more 'pulp' sci-fi figures.

Most of the factions are not a problem. My issue is with the Karmen. They are very large and I want to be able to reflect the character of the figures in the game and not just make them regular troops.

I created a 'Large' crew trait to make them all Large but I am wondering if I also need to make them Heavily Armoured?

I think it really depends on the other gangs they will be facing. If they have a weapon with the deadly trait or some stuff with AP it may balance. Having 4 wounds and a save of 5 is pretty butch.

There will be AP weapons in most of the other crews. I think that Large and Armoured will work but that means that the force doesn't have as much room for 'fun' abilities. Mind you some people like big walking tanks so maybe that won't be too bad :-)

So I ended up not using Heavily Armoured in the crews at all. The UNA and Red Blok each have an Armoured crew member and I left the Karman crew as just Large with no additional armour.

I think it will work better that way and I also think that it fits into the ethos of the game better

I have also thought about this for my at-43 stuff. I was going to go the no leader and four specialist route.

That might work for Karman models as well

I was thinking 4 specialist crew for Karmans, regular 5 man crew for the UNA. Then Leader, specialist, two regulars. and three grunts for the red blok.

I actually did that for the Therians. The Red Blok were just a standard crew. I also gave the Therian Leader the Summoner ability

Are you keeping in the narrative of the At-43 universe

Not really. It is a test game for Galactic Heroes. I just don't have four Pulp crews painted yet
