colour scheme for E-SE-asian skin tones
« on: April 21, 2023, 05:29:28 PM »
I'd like some help with a colour scheme for E-SE-asian skin tones. I'm going to paint Tonka as a chinese or japanese bodyguard for some sinister pulp villain, but I'm not sure about the skin (and he's got a lot of it, vearing only a pair of trousers...)

I wan a yellowish sheen without it being too 'comic-like'

Any suggestions, please

I use Vallejo 42040 Leather Brown mixed with white for highlighting for Asian Skin. You could add a bit of 72043 Beasty Brown for SE-Asian tone.

This difference to Caucasian skin (I use Vallejo 42072 Parasite Brown) is easily visible on the gaming table:

Michi, I like that idea or mixing the white with the brown.  A fairly effective and distinct differentiation in skin tone.  Well done.  I'm going to have to experiment since I have a lot of asians to paint.

Not Cheap but I painted my Vietnam figures with the Wargames Foundry triad. I liked it but sorry I've no picture to post.

I also use the Foundry triad but if you have Army Painter paints then Kevin Dallimore does a couple of tutorials in the North Star magazine

Wargamers do it on a table.

Have a look at this page, I've found it quite helpful when dealing with skin tones.
