Got my Rif Raf - Rif Miniatures
« on: May 19, 2009, 04:03:30 PM »
Today I received the Rif Miniatures from Rif Raf.

IIRC they are sculpted by Richard Ansell and what good figures they are. Somewhere there was a post about the Figures in development but I could not find it.

They are anatomically correct with small faces and compared with other 28mm Figures they are more on the Perry end of bulkyness (or rather not-bulkyness).
The diversity of the poses with standing, kneeling and prone figures is a factor for everyone, who is interested in e.g. Triumph & Tragedy. Mine will be used for Berber Tribes / Senussi Rebellion or Pulp Scenarios in North Africa.

but see for yourself

Hah,  I knew the name from somewhere, but I could not quite nail it down.

But the name RIF RAF for a company making RIF War Miniatures must be considered as a tempting pun.

Any chance you could post some scale comparison pictures?

I will try to make Scale comparison photos over the weekend, but suffice me to say they are very skinny in comparison with e.g. Brigade German Marinetroops or Gripping Beast Desert Sons Figures (Desert Frontier range).

My bad. At least I wanted to use them together with the desert sons, which now is only possible with increased base thickness and a squint whenever they come nearer together.

I was thinking Rif Raf from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and now I am thinking what a fun set or miniatures Rocky, Dr Frank'n'furter and co would be to paint. I know I was saying to Revford that I wasn't going to buy any more miniatures until I have reduced my lead mountain, but if someone knows where to find such miniatures I might just go back on my word.  :D

That said the Rif Raf miniatures are rather nice themselves.
