One gets the impression that Ezab's guards are well-painted, but it's just too difficult to tell.  I'm gonna go for gaudy over over-realism.

Although the second shot is really overlighted, I prefer the total look of them over the first one. The second one feels authentic to me and has nice colors. In addition, painting ten miniatures is a lot of work and that should get a thumbs up too! The first entry has a bit too much colors for my taste and I'm not a fan of the green bases. But I applaud you painted a cavalry model for this round! It adds a lot to the picture.
Number two gets my vote.

And I'd recommend to Le Matou Rouge not to use that weird grassy stuff for future pictures anymore. It detracts way too much from the miniatures and looks a bit odd. I think your miniatures will look even better with a background that's not as busy as this one.

The Red Tomcat had me at the Tintin reference. But I also like the toy-soldier look of the first entry.

Is that the same field that was full of Germans only a week ago?

Only kidding Matt but you are going to have to show your new found painting skills in full colour in some of the rounds ;)

Them Ottomans are proper toy soldiers and a joy to behold but the cat got my vote.

Becauce of the LAF crash, I didn't have the time to reply here, but never to late, so thanks again for all your comments !

@ Malebolgia
Thank you for your comment about yhe "overlighted shot" : I didn't know it was the reason of the poor light and I tried to fix it in the next shot : very helpful !

@ Chris
I'm pleased you notice reference ; I really hope someone did : you are a true scholar, Sir.

@ Svennn
Yep, same field ! I painted so much  ::) it was completely overcrowded ! but did you notice I changed it in my next pic ?  I moved to Orange County  ;D
