I'm still struggling with OSL effects.

My only advice is to paint the colours, don't try to cheat with washes, it never really works.

Very impressive painting!  :-*

May I ask how you go about taking pics with a black backdrop? When I try to do so, the minis become somewhat over-exposed.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I'm not sure what to say other than to always use a white cloth, piece of grease paper or even just white printer paper to diffuse the light. I don't use artificial light sources, just daylight. Also, you can usually alter the light balance with the program you use to work on your photos to bring down exposure and deepen the black.

OK, thanks, it's a start!  :)

This is because the camera looks at the amount of light coming in to determine the exposure.  A black background will register as low light so it over exposes the picture.  If you can try setting the exposure yourself manually or set it using a piece of grey card.

Makes sense, I shall keep that in mind, thanks!
I think that I can probably set the exposure (Canon IXUS 285 HS), but I have always used the 'light type' settings with nice results (apart from that black backdrop), so haven't dabbled in it.

Man, but you paint metal purdy.

Sir Terrance Venables, Keeper of the Queen's Park? I had to leap through hoops for that one.

For the same company as the last lot, another upcoming Kickstarter. Commissions like this make me love my job.
