1/56 Stuart Walker progress!
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:54:40 AM »
Progress on the walker.

For these images, I have combined the current available castings with AT-43 walker legs and a rocket pack.  I did however manage to make some small manipulator arms . (There you go Agis!)

The main hull comes with this turret:

but it will accept all the Stuart turrets we have available:

I'm contemplating whether I should master legs for this model. and offer it as a full on kit (which would be in the $40 range)  or just offer the hull, detail bits and turrets.  Which brings these in to the scratch build category of $8 pieces for the hull (approx) and $5 or so for the turrets and weapons.   With the large number of mech kits out though, it seems like the cheaper option is better.

Ideas?  Thoughts?

Or does everyone just want me to make the whole kit, do a heavy US mech and then move on the Weird War Japanese?!

Seems unfinished just to sell it as a hull.  Allot of people may not pick it up if they have to scratch build legs or ruin or buy another product that may not feel or look like it goes with the mech.  AT43 and Gear Kreig have totally different looks and to just say aw, here is the hull so do whatever with it seems a bit strange.

I'd do legs or even the running gear like GK has when it is not walking.

Just a thought,
Brian

He, he! Nice ones! :o 8)

IMO the seasoned modeler will prefer the scratch build option.

But since not so many are skilled or eager enough to jump at it I have to agree with Brian! (And the AT-43 legs DO look strange on the GK walker...) ;)
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Good points..

Also please bear in mind this is a prototype model using existing parts in out lineup.  Since I may be getting a actual DP9 license, the final model would be based on their blueprints.

A full kit, please! I think that with going on six Weird War 2 rules out or in the offing, there's demand for a full kit, and it would increase the number of folks who'd purchase one since many do not do scratch-builds. I would happily help promote this for you.
