So how far are you now from playing SAGA with just Tyr figures? ;)

For the wagon, you might want to add a bit of cargo inside. Mainly things like extra ammunition, perhaps a brazier for the cinematics of eventual flaming arrows in the narrative if nothing else.

What do you mean, what other way of playing SAGA is there???

Nice idea, I'd already added a bit of cargo inside but a brazier sounds cool...

It would also help with the ice and snow basing you're using as a way to expand on it, it's something that would work for keeping warm.

If you really want to go into crazy land for it, you could drill up from under the base for a cheap LED to have a lit up brazier...some of the cheap, tea light LED's such as from Dollar Tree or most stores of the type can be opened with the light extracted, already wired and you just need to work it into place.

Yep, I'm convinced on the brazier front now, it'll add a lot of interest to the model.

As for the LED lights, I think they work if you design a force with that theme in mind. I'm slightly leery of popping them in on single models as it can jar a bit if it's not part of the force's 'theme', so to speak. Maybe I'll be convinced otherwise at some point though. :)

So, Heerschau 2022, a Studio Tomahawk-themed painting competition organised by Stronghold Terrain comes to an end this weekend. It's the first year I participated and safe to say I really enjoyed it. The goal was to paint a point per month of SAGA (also options for Muskets and Tomahawks, but SAGA is my preference). In the end, over the six-month event I managed 10.5pts of completely new units, which I'm pretty chuffed about.

Couldn't resist taking a group pic, so here's everything painted over the last six months. In the end I managed to finish 6.5pts of Pagan Rus (or Pagan Peoples), 1.5pts of Ordenstaat/Eastern Princes/Crusaders (plus two Warlords) and 2.5pts of Undead.

The Rus wouldn't have happened at all without this challenge so I'm really grateful Stronghold Terrain organised it.

That's a great bit of modelling. I've never seen a model of someone winding up their crossbow (arbalest?) before and that's a real treat.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

It's actually just a set of arms from Perry Miniatures stretched and repositioned to fit Fireforge Northmen bodies. Looks a bit different with all the fur :)

That looks pretty cool as it is in grey-scale. Lots of details to give the piece interest - I’m looking forward to seeing it coloured in!

Thanks!

Here's a little time lapse of where it is now - next step, resin pour...

Beautiful is an odd way to describe a fetid pool full of rotting carcasses but I know what you mean. Sterling work as always
