Alatriste miniature news?
« on: April 28, 2009, 02:59:22 AM »
Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone may be able to find, or already has, current news on these miniatures?

I would REALLY like to have the Alatriste fig and wish it was available...well....anywhere really.....I would actually pay a bit of a premium for that mini......

To me that is one of the coolest minis around.....

That really is a fantastic miniature and beautifully painted.

I've read two of the books and think they are very good (actually picked up in a Discount Book store in the UK for £1.00 each) - I believe there is a Spanish film (or two).  I'd ike to see them one day.

The books are great, but the film...

While it's got some of the most beautiful set and costume designs, and a gorgeous palette, and intentionally Degas-style compositions...

...it is TERRIBLY boring.  And I'm EXTREMELY forgiving about film flaws when it comes to period pieces, but this is one of the most boring films I've ever seen.  To be fair, I never finished it; I expect the end has some sort of battle scene, but if it follows the trend set by the previous ones, it'll be short and unimpressive.  I don't require acrobatics or special effects, but I do want some semblance of emotional heightening when jeopardy is involved, and these fights offered none of that.

The books are wonderful, though.
Check out THE CROGAN ADVENTURES, a historical adventure graphic novel series available from your local bookstore or comic shop (or, of course, Amazon).  I make 'em.

Indeed, it was...

I think one of the problems with the film is that they tried to cram his whole life story in one movie, which means they didn't take the time to really get into the scenes and which also means the pace of the movie is uneven.

That is what really ruined the film all those stories into one film. It was a little hard to follow, almost no character development and I speak spanish and still found it hard to follow or like. Sad thing really because I like the books and was so looking forward to the film. I bought the film anyway, but on ebay...
Also bough the main book for the rpg (Very expensive) and only available in Spanish and have found some stuff on line (Also in spanoish) but no minis for 25-35 mil range :(
I also understand there is a graphic novel (In spanish) but I have not been able to get it as yet.

It is avaialable at least major part of it on the net. Sorry, I do not have any link, since I found it long time ago, but I think there is an Alatriste site. So, try to search.
