Yes. The foil is thick and not as easy to bend as plain paper. The foil holds it shape, allowing you to position the folds where you wish them and they will stay there. Paper does not hold its shape like the foil does. Try one and see the difference.

I'll consider it if it's ever an issue, but I find paper the shape just fine!

The tutorial  was requested by several members. It featured what I DO to make the flags look the way that they do. Whatever works for you is fine. But, this was about my method. I'm not here to defend it. If you find steps to be unnecessary, than skip them. The question was "How do you get your flags to look like that?"

Hopefully, I answered that question.
