You could build most of these state's armies very quickly. They were ephemeral for a reason!

Some Whites, Freikorps, Cossacks and Basmachis would give the rest. I already can field almost all of them.

Most of the small interesting armies are missing because they never declared statehood. Semenov, Grigoriev, Urals Cossacks etc, even though they were in practice independent.

Honestly, I was thinking that I might just do officer/color parties for each one, and otherwise use my existing Red and White troops - especially the Whites since many of my Reds have big honking red stars on their headgear

My thoughts exactly...
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

TransCaspia
The crescent and star motif was common with nationalist movements in Russian Central Asia so I have used the Alash Autonomy flag (Red field with yellow crescent and star) with the initials of the Trans Caspian Provisional Government for Transcaspia
The Tashkent Soviet adopted the Turkestan ASSR flag;

How do you think I field most? My Red Guards also double as Latvian Nationalists and Polish Volunteers. My Freikorps are Poznan Poles in their other days.

You would need ones in Cherkessa for the Caucasians.

Mark,
I agree that Semenov is one of the more interesting armies to play.

Where's Tannu Tuva
Theoretically independent until 1944 so insufficiently ephemeral?

Nice map and flags,  but i see the Trans - Caspian government  is missing.

Always wondered what flag it would have had, Russian or Turkmen cresent flag.
.

Been wondering this myself. Info is sadly lacking.

I can't see Mensheviks flying a Tsarist colour. Nor an ethnic one that was religious in origin.

My money would be on the Transcaspians flying the Red Flag, like KOMUCH did, as their official flag.

That's what I've gone for with my TransCaspian forces...
