Forest Type Bases ...Question

I am trying to decide how I should base my Oriskany forces.
The battle was fought in the woods, so I am thinking of basing the figures on stands that reflect that.

These are examples of how I would do it.
All of these figures are conversions that I made from "leftovers" from other projects.
All unique!!!

So, should I base my Kings Royal Rangers, Brandt's and Butler's Loyalists and Jaegers this way?

Basing both sides the same way makes sense to me - and it isn't so 'different' that you couldn't use them in other settings if desired. 

But where is Herkimer leaning against a tree leading from his butt (and quite effectively, too)?!
