Interesting idea, thanks!  I'll have a ponder.
I was going to get a photo and turn it into black and white to get the contrast and fix any perspective problem.  Scribing direct would allow me to just trace the picture.    If I backed it with some air dry clay prior to scribing it'll have a bit more body to it...  interesting thanks!

The plan for the table has changed too, I'm no longer going to do the Kroll opera house as it's too big and too far away.  The table will start around the middle of the koeningsplatz with the flooded subway near the western edge.  The proportions aren't that far out for a 6x4 table.

The western side is pretty open with little cover, the eastern end is littered with ruined buildings, trenches and debris.

The Riechstag will be a trap.  There are very few access points from the front and the temporary buildings in front block a lot of the lines of sight, particularly form the south wing, so units in the building will be static firing positions and vulnerable to long range heavy weapon and sniper fire.

Loving the build Rich  :D
Two questions ...
1. Will we be able to see this astounding structure at a show?
2. Is the building circled in your second post the Swiss embassy? A Berliner told me a story about Stalin giving strict orders not to damage it. You might be able to factor in some special rules on that...

Thanks
It'll probably be at the Welsh Open in Cardiff and the Ribble Rumble in Stockport this year.

The building in the red circle is a personnel shelter bunker. The embassy i think is further north and west

Working on rubble and the plinth....  pics to follow.

Got a day of Bolt Action on Sat so that will limit progress but I think I've got all the bits I need.
Problems will still be the friezes and the finials on the roof line but I'll get there...

I've got some textured spray paint I'm going to try but I'm concerned it'll obscure the pillar detail.

The rubble - I'm casting hundreds of 1/48 scale bricks....

Having used textured spray paint, I'd  suggest you mask off the pillars and anything else you don't want pebble dashed. It looks good on some things, as adobe or stucco but smoother concrete and dressed I'd say not so much.

There is a product available locally for giving furniture a distressed/ 'shabby chic' look. Spray can that produces a fine, chalky and very, very matt surface. Locally they sell it in a powder blue and a very useful pale gray that's great for concrete surfaces. No doubt there is an equivalent in the UK. I understand you now have the Bunnings chain over there and that's where I have purchased it here. Dulux do spray cans and IIRC so do Rust-Oleum.

Rustoleum used to do a couple of textured sprays, terracotta and suede that had been recommended for 1/43 scale road surfaces and concrete. My local HobbyzRUz used to stock it, but now only have a Rust version. It looks like it has a lot finer "grain" size than the other kinds.

Wilkinson's have own brand sprays, one is very coarse (two colours) and the other "Desert Bisque" is slightly finer.

I used an ancient Citadel Roughcoat on a pillbox.

Very nice but I’m not sure that’s quite what your wife was after when she asked you to build a conservatory.

Sandsmodels: Awesome!  Are you interested in sharing sources?  Found some interesting Russian blogs with some good pics of the buildings in front.

Details details...
And rubble casts.  The rubble will be a core to build onto.
