Sir Shvantselot’s Gladiators & OGAM
« on: April 15, 2018, 09:16:31 PM »
I’ve been watching Troy and Vikings and have had Of Gods and Mortals sitting in a pile of books for ages. Then someone at the Pit Gaming Shop in Borehamwood said they would play it!

I had a rummage around and you would be amazed what you can find in an existing collection. Gotta love the miniatures agnostic approach. Also that all GW stuff etc is all based on Norse or Greek legends.

So below is Freja + ice giants (maybe a character, the mate has borrowed the book) + finally a use for the Clan McFiggin Oathsworn gents (there are around ten I think I have) and a lot of Foundry Vikings I bought for Saga (where they suck as a faction - lucky me).

I’m not sure how good he is but the other pic circles who will be Thor in yellow, as well as the dwarf smithy dude.

I also realised I have loads of Foundry gladiators sitting in the lead pile. And I’ve always wanted to pick up the Mythic Battles Gods. Vikings in pic really just for scale.

I’m not sure there are rules in OGAM for Titans... like Atlas. Will have to see if I’m smart enough to work it out. Or if he just becomes a cyclops.

Nice ideas and some great minis (and biggies) there.  Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Thank you. We’ll step one was to get a willing opponent and I managed to fine one in the Pit Gaming Shop in Borehamwood. Step two was to get minis, and I was amazed at what I had. Though I should probably go with Norse as shown above I also wondered about running an Aphrodite gladiators list as per the pics below.

I need to calculate points to get them nearer 900 but it’s something like:

Aphrodite

Minotaur
Cyclops
Hydra

Two units of gladiators x 8 (run as Norse berserkers)

I wonder if having no shooting matters. I could pull together some satyrs from ungors. Also are there any better official rules for gladiators - lightly armoured always seems to mean archers in the OGM book.

There are also the satyr forces for Wargods that may be more of what you'd want for them.

Never say I never get there. Some Foundry gladiators painted for Sons of Mars or OGAM...if we ever leave lockdown and can play again.

Your Hopplomachus looks like he might be from Crusader and not Foundry!

Splendid looking forces.  I really wish I could get my hand son those Mythic god models!  They are just what the doctor ordered!

I think you’re right re Crusader. I’ve got a game of Jugula next week. So I painted up a few more and have started a basic board. I’m also looking to swap various Mythic Battles pantheon gods and heroes on the Bazaar of Obscurities.

I did a little video of the gladiators I have painted. And indeed the ones I have not.
