Florian‘s 15mm Fantasy (Update: 19/02 Chaos Dwarfs)
« on: April 25, 2018, 06:37:02 PM »
Hi folks,

I haven’t posted anything of my fantasy forces here, yet. So here we go.

The beginning is made by some recently acquired models with lots of character. Some might recognize them. They are bade tempered, have lots of slaves and want to conquer the world.

The models are simply adorable. I haven’t based them yet and must still decide what kind of basing they will get.

Very cool - I keep meaning to pick some of these up from Etsy. They're quite small aren't they? 15mm-ish to the top of the hats?

Thanks!

About the size: They're actually quite bulky, comparable to the Demonworld dwarfs (maybe even a bit bigger) with large heads! I'll post some comparison shots on the weekend, but they're definitely larger than 15mm to the top of the hats.

Florian‘s 15mm Fantasy (Chaos Dwarf size comparison)
« Reply #3 on: April 29, 2018, 11:25:58 AM »
Hi folks, here is a shot quickly taken before breakfast and getting ready to go to a convention about interior house design with my wife (...yeah, yeah, just laugh!).

It shows one of the excellent 15mm Chaos Dwarfs next to a Demonworld elf, dwarf and human wizard. Excellent matches as far as I’m concerned. The Demonworld dwarfs are a little smaller, but since the Chaos Dwarf design is incompatible with anything else, that’s no big deal for me.

I’m really enjoying painting the little beardy bastards and am wondering what I should do with them?

Any ideas? 15mm Kings of War? Warhammer 4th?

And here are my first units and character. The dwarfs have been joined by more of their brethren and a chaos familiar from the latest KS by Diego/Knightmare Miniatures (awesome miniature!) to lead the bunch into battle.

I love the minis and want to keep them single based if possible, has anyone experience with a good way to put minis based on cent coins on multi-bases?
And where should I go concerning the bases? Yellowish sand?
Ach...and what should I do about the shields. They’re too small for my abilities to paint freehands. Are there good transfers available?

Inspired by the discussion on oldschoolmfantasy featuring Arthurian knights like in the movies and books of our childhood (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=108946.msg1364071#msg1364071), I started to paint some Demonworld stuff.

Here is a WiP of my first knoght and his magical advisor. Still thinking about names.

If you don't mind a little bit of silliness you could name the knight Lord Ness, after all his shield allready is emblazoned with a sea monster.

Well, I’m not averse to a silly joke. Would I paint little dollies, as my significant other likes to cal them, if I was? But is it indeed Lord Ness or just Sir Ness?

A knight from the otherworldly fae. How about naming him Corleth the Fay?

In my imagination, these characters live in a world very close to the Prince Valiant comics or old romantically blurred images of knights. Part Dark Age reality with Medieval setting and rests of prehistoric fantasy.

Therefore this high elf from Grenadier is noone less than Sir Priamos, one of the knights of Rome...in some versions of the Arthurian epics, Arthur at one point fights Rome in open combat. So, yes it’s silly and anachronistic, but it’s fun and was somehow part of the myth!

And another Fae/Fey. This one has no name, yet.
