2d Scenery
« on: January 02, 2009, 04:09:43 PM »
I have loads of 25mm Chicago gangsters and want some 2d scenery to play on, anyone know of a company that sells it?  It will never be more than a few one of games, so I don't want to spend laods on it.

Are you after a town/city or a village? I have a fantasy village 2D plan which might be of ues.
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

Do you mean paper buildings?

If so, these are free..

Not (usually) free, but RPGNow has a lot of cardstock buildings available for download & printing; the most obviously gangster-related one I've noticed is Hard Boiled City Tiles 1.

Lots more under RPGNow's 2d Buildings/Terrain category.

Thanks Guys, the Illinois site I have added to favourites, however, my card buildings always end up flimsy. The Old Glory buildings will cost an arm and a leg with the low exchange rate, but the RPG set looks ace and they have added a church/graveyard.  Just need some shops and a bank now................ Will purchase and laminate.

Stick the printed face of the buildings to a conveniently sized carboard box or polystyrene block. That way, the building will be pretty solid when finished.

Thanks R_C, so obvious I didn't see it..................

There are also some other bits like a subway, diner and office from that RPG site at £1.50 each, not a bad shout if I can retro them.  I feel a zombie game coming on............

That Illinois site have just announced:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming in late Februay 2009: Build your own Lincoln Sites will be a fun new web tool for kids of all ages who want to build HO scale models of actual historic buildings associated with Abraham Lincoln. Starting in late February 2009 and in honor of the Bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth you will be able to download the parts of the first of these models (for free) and then print them on your cardstock. Next, cut out and glue together this new series of Illinois Historic Lincoln Site models.

The models will accurately depict ten historic buildings from around the state of Illinois that were important in Lincoln’s life. These models are funded by a grant from the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission given to the Old State Capitol Foundation. Until the new models are online, you can go not to BuildYourOMainStreet.org and download the Tinsley Store where Linoln had his law offices (see below). Check back in late February at wwwLincoln200.net or here for the first installments in Build Your Own Lincoln. We will then continue to add models each month of this Bicentennial Year.

These buildings are:

Old State Capitol
Lincoln Tomb
Great Western Station
Lincoln Home
Berry-Lincoln Store at New Salem
Vandalia Statehouse in Vandalia
Beecher Hall at Illinois College
Old Main at Knox College
Shastid Cabin in Pittsfield
Thomas Lincoln Home at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site

How About This?
« Reply #12 on: May 13, 2009, 12:34:43 AM »
I've been quietly creating an entire pulp city (4 blocks worth) and we recently played our first game.

[hmmm...not sure why these won't display, so I've included link to friend's blog]
http://savageboldfistblog.blogspot.com/

I created the buildings by printing edited fronts from Elfin Models onto contact paper.  I then affix the sheets on to cheap hardwood boxes and box lids.  I think the results speak for themselves.

I'd appreciate input.  I still have to finish painting metal light poles, sign posts and fire hydrants.

I missed Bookman's post somehow - blame my obsessive watching of the LPL threads!

Those are very cool 2.5d buildings, I'm inspired to add something similar to my project list. Just what I need, more projects! I do need more inexpensive buildings, though!
