Empress ex-Horcata TYW
« on: September 13, 2023, 03:03:26 PM »
I haven't seen any publicity for this, and came across it by chance. Empress has brought out some new cavalry packs for the TYW range it acquired from Emil Horky - the Horcata / Bohemian Troops range. These packs seem to contain riders in the original poses but some with different head variants - the variants being taken from other figures in the range. The head swaps look to have been done very nicely.

The only blurb I saw about them is on the Wargames, News and Terrain blog (link, with pics).
As much as I am tempted to buy some I really don't need anymore ECW horse.

I don't need any either, but I've already ordered a few.  :D

Here's the whole post including hyperlinked pics (hoping it works!) from Facebook Paul:

"We have released 6 new cavalry pack codes into the 28mm Empress Miniatures Thirty Year War room."

https://www.empressminiatures.com/empress-miniatures-thirty-year-war-150-c.asp
Link now fixed!

"Many of these are new figures created from existing figures to add a variance for the customer. Single codes will gradually disappear from this range as get the moulds sorted.
Cheers, Paul."

Beauties are they not?

Darrell: thanks very much for putting up the post. As you might guess, doing that would be completely beyond my IT skills.

I'm hoping that these new packs will prove popular, because Empress is more likely to ask Paul Hicks to sculpt some new figures if these packs sell well.

Where's Arthur when we need him  ;) :) Actually, much of what is new in "tech" is way beyond my skill and knowledge now too  :'( I'm just relieved the hyperlink's worked from Facebook as I couldn't link them from the empress site.

Me too. If I remember correctly, this range was originally early an TYW Bohemian (Battle of White Mountain) range?

The sculpts are delightful- full of the Mr Hicks character which he and a few other sculptors manage to breath life into the miniatures.

Darrell: the sculpts are certainly ideal for the early TYW with cuirassiers in 3/4 armour, pikemen in armour including tassets and musketeers with rests.
