Effing Hell  :o :o :o
How can I possibly decide? Both brilliantly done.
Plynkes, you could almost be a German. That is a scene worthy of the Prof himself. Fabulous choice of models, painting, composition and photography. Stunning.
Keith - such a wonderful subject, executed perfectly. So simple, yet so effective. Love it.
Almost impossible to choose.

Plynkes, what can I say? Absolutely wonderful and so damn much of it  :D
I was shooting for something a bit ‘poetic’ but deservedly steam-rolled by your amazing entry.

Well, out of personal experience, I think being steamrolled by Dylan is not that bad at all  ::) I remember when Zoogla was like a steamroll some years ago, everyone said "no, I was zooglerd". May be we could say "I was plynked", unless it means something cheeky...
To brilliant entries, a clash of kings. Both are painted and staged very well,
I love the scenery in Dylans pic and the angle Keith shot his makes it very dramatic.

That's a gorgeous scene, Keith, and very dramatically posed, as Jan said. Really love those dark blues, too. I think understatement is definitely the way to go with that colour, rather than the umpteen layers that one might be tempted to try. Really glad you seem to have overcome your varnishing disaster. Hope you didn't have to paint a whole new gang of figures. :)

Plynkes, you could almost be a German. That is a scene worthy of the Prof himself.

Thanks very much, Richard. Alex is my painting hero, and it was despairingly wishing I could paint like him that made me determined to get better at it. But this particular example was more of an attempt to emulate another Five-Star German LAFer's style: That of Frank and his Sudan work (though this entry is not set in Sudan).

May be we could say "I was plynked", unless it means something cheeky...

Well I don't think it does, but it is going to now you've put the thought in my head.  lol

Alas, all new since the varnish fiasco ... otherwise you would indeed have been up against the figures you sent  :D

It's not fair to have to vote for one. :(
Both so well painted.
Thank you both.

Bananas!

Plynkes, what on earth was used to make that incredibly well-shaped rock face? Did you carve that yourself (and if so, HOW?) or is that a pre-moulded sort of thing?

It's a decoration for a terrarium, something for your pet rattlesnake or scorpion to hide in and behind. Comes like that, you don't even have to paint it.

(I feel that admission is slightly decreasing my stock as an LPLer, but Mother taught me not to lie.  lol)

I have been soundly Zoogla’d, Franked and Hammered repeatedly in past LPLs. I look forward to being Plynked one day  :)

I agree with Dylan about the blue on the sailors. Very difficult to be restrained with the highlights on dark blue. I always overdo it. Have just never mastered the technique. But that navy blue is done perfectly Keith.

Both exquisitely painted. Well done. Plynkes can I ask about the rock structure in your background? Is it scratchbuit or some sort of resin piece?

I thought I already answered that question!  lol

It's a decoration for a terrarium, something for your pet rattlesnake or scorpion to hide in and behind. Comes like that, you don't even have to paint it.

I bought it from some random site after googling "terrarium rocks", quite a long time ago. I'm afraid I don't remember exactly which one, but back then those pieces were being sold by loads of different outlets. I am a little concerned that they might be out of production, because I have had no luck getting any more in more recent times. I have just two pieces, which is fine for LAF backdrops, but not really enough for tabletop gaming.
