LOL This isn't a private thread, though it is usual for my comments to stop a conversation in its tracks

Svennn, you know I am your little crack monkey.

If you had more shineys to palm off on me you should have said!  lol

Its probably about time time I returned the many favours you've done me, tbh.

EDIT:

Postie's just arrived with three more little fellas for the cause, kindly donated by Svennn. I swear, the man must have bought a hundred packs of everything released from every Nottingham based firm in the nineties.

Top bloke.  :)

Where is the picture of all these halflings to encourage the rest of us will go a hobbit buying spree (I already own about 50, from 80's and earlier 90's).

And a package from dampfpanzerwagen turns up today with a bunch of Copplestone's reworkings of his old Grenadier sculpts.

Which coincidentally are almost exactly the same size as the Alternative Armies ones Svennn donated. Excellent. This now gives me a nice little group of Greenwood scouts, led by Robbing Hud and Little Jim.

@ Tim: There will be pictures as and when the buggers get painted. This may actually never happen. Although when I get a few different types together, I may compile a comparison shot for other people's reference.

You should become the Worlds Authority on Hobbits and do a web-site - though that does all sound far too much like hard-work. Scratch that idea.

For anybody who still might give a hoot, here's the comparison between all the different halflings I currently own:

Left to right they are:

Citadel C-series; Late 90's Citadel; Black Hat; Black Tree/Harlequin; Grenadier/Mirliton; Copplestone reworking of previous; Alternative Armies; Hasslefree; Heresy (l'il bit drunk).

Please ignore the ropey painting on the first two, the touch-up goblin will be making an appearance with them sooner or later.

All in all, I don't think they all square up too badly. There are some I wouldn't necessarily mix within a unit, but others that complement each other. (I did not include the mid 90s Citadel Empire halflings as they are pretty much a midpoint between the first two, and its easy to judge the comparative size from that. And I had no more room in my light tent.)

Also, there is no consistency of size in the C-series ones I have, so I chose one that seemed average, but be aware of the variation.

...

Nobody actually cares but me, do they...?  :'(

I care a little.  ;)

The Black Hat one seems to be a good (perfect) match for the later GW ones, while the BTD look like they'd mix well with the citadel C-series. For the purists.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. And the AA ones will fit with Copplestone's.

They are all close enough to make a sizeable army, as Mad Carew Sr said, they could represent different villages in the Shire/Moot to allow for variation while still all being halflings.

Did I suggest that? A moment of clarity? Or was it the claret talking? Whatever, thats a pretty good line-up there Bob; keep us posted on the progress of your short-ass army.

I care,

I have the same thing going with old skool chaos dwarves, (plate armour not the high hats) though have sensibly reframed from buying up every single marauder mini that appears on ebay but I have around 20 or so from GW, twisted tales etc...

Anyway:

Differences in height, bodyform would be natural in any population, even short hairy footed buggers like these.

End of the day it's not like they're all cloned from the same mould is it?  ;)

Get painting!
