'Old Citadel Nostalgia' - an ongoing project.

Thanks, it's nothing fancy, just layering and inks/washes. I mix my own colours in 4 (or 6 with fleshtones) stages in pots, so it's to hand.

Thanks, the McDeath ones were a special job, no doubt about it. The great thing is being able to paint all those wonderful models I could never afford as a kid and could only covet from afar. Now I get all the fun of colouring them in without having to store them (well, some of them are mine).

Okay, next batch up, a real mix of old Citadel mins for a commission.

This guy is a model I also own and I didn't know who he was - he's a limited edition Samurai for the opening of Sheffield's GW store (mine will be along later in a different colour scheme).






Next is a Chaos Cleric. I wasn't sure if the mouth was meant to be teeth or part of the helmet, so I did it as teeth for some nasty Chaos mutation.






This dude is a grubby rogue with an unfortunate complexion. He's going to be used as one of the brewery's clubmen from the McDeath scenario (hence the tartan head cloth).






Ah, now this pretty one is a C-series Wood Elf, the first I've painted. I went extra slow to try to keep the colours smooth and muted.






Another club armed rogue, this time with a more nautical look to him. I painted him as a rascally pirate type.






This beauty was a real labour of love, Thrud the Barbarian in all his glory. I also have one of these but haven't got round to painting him yet.






And bringing up the rear, a lovely Mounted Cleric from the Fantasy Adventurers range. His horse's cloth barding needed repainting after I tried doing a really fancy pattern on it and ended up just making a big mess.

Thanks dudes, yeah in case I haven't mentioned before, this commission, like so many others, is for Richard 'Orclord' Hale who runs the magnificent 'Stuff of Legends' website for vintage fantasy models. His collection of old lead is itself the stuff of legends and is frankly enough to open a museum. I have the best gig in the world painting lovely old models, many of which I coveted but couldn't afford when I was a kid, then I get paid money and don't have to store them in my tiny studio! The definition of win-win. If I have to do some wussy Elves or stunty Dwarves along the way, it's a small price to pay.
