Wind-up Tanks
« on: May 14, 2009, 09:59:37 PM »
Greetings all, just joined up & wanted to submit for your pleasure a unit I'd just completed.  (Apologies to those who've already seen this on TMP)

Wind-up Tanks

Here's a better shot of the clockwork mechanisms

The figures are GW 6mm Epic Leman Russ tanks.

My other VSF projects can be found here

Thanks

With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

Are the not GW epic 40K Baneblades with some extras added.
Cool idea by the way.

Ah I understand! They started off as these http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1290357&prodId=prod1101923

I did realise GW made small scale stuff - dang they're expensive!!!

When I saw the subject I thought it meant tanks that got on people's nerves.

Lovely idea, will be interesting to see how they get on in battle. What rules do you use?
Don't!

The tanks are newly done, so haven't tried them yet.  But I've run GASLIGHT, & played in Skrapwelder's Rampant Colonialism, Colonial Adventures & Valor Steel & Flesh games.

Not sure how to classify the guns on the tanks though.  Maybe make the whole unit the equivalent of a heavy machine gun since they're probably heavier caliber than rifles, & will have 6 separate shots.

Haven't thought about to how to manage the wind-up-ness & that once set off, there will be no control of them.

I've done something similar with "Epic" rhinos and converted them into 28mm sentinel tanklets for my 5150 games. I stuck a gun on the top of one, added a second connected to the rear as a power source/ammo magazine and Bob's your uncle - nasty little armoured surprises for guarding secret laboratories, Government logistics depots etc.

Your VSF idea is much better though and very well executed  :)

No they are Leman Russes mate, not Baneblades:

(These are later epic sculpts but still)
Three russes to the left, (one chimera at the back) Baneblade to the right.

I should know I have both for 40K. Leman russ's for my imperial guard and a Baneblade for my Iron Warriors Chaos army.
And before anyone slates me for buying a baneblade from the evil empire, mine is scratch built.
