Superb thread.  Classic minis painted in a nicely classic style.  I say that as someone who never particularly liked that giant.  It does show how timeless the basic original Warhammer Fantasy minis were though.  It also explains why there are so many random Kickstarters going back to some sculpts of that style.

Love everything in this thread.  Keep it up!

Many thanks mate! I agree with you,  "old school" is trendy!

That giant is fantastic. I painted mine in different colours as well but not in the same league as yours.

Well done. You've made some meh plastics look very nice.

Fully agree! They look awesome.

As do the rest of the minis. That Black Orc is superb.

The War Wagon is amazing, and the Giant too!

Hi guys!
I have just updated my blog with some heroes of Warhammer Quest:
https://spanishleadpainting.blogspot.com/2019/10/warhammer-quest-witch-hunter-heroes.html

After painting the Warhammer Giant, just before the summer, my mood turned into a more "historical"manner. This changed last weekend, I had a miniature laying around during months, and I really wanted to paint it but never find the right moment, until now ;)   Warhammer Quest Witch Hunter, a fantasy XVIIc. style miniature, with a lot of detail and crisp details. It has been a joy to paint, and I'm pleased with the final result.  I used mostly Foundry paint triads, Vallejo model color, some Citadel paints ( I tend to use lesser and lesser Citadel paints, due to their tendency  to dry in the pot...) then I applied matt varnish from Ammo Mig.

I found out a couple of Heroes painted last year but not yet photographed and uploaded here, so sorry for this, here they come, my Dwarf hero and Barbarian!

The Dwarf iron breaker is from Warhammer Quest core set (1995!) in plastic, a nice little miniature that painted up quite nicely.

And regarding the Barbarian, I simply did not like at all the Barbarian included in the core game... I may paint it in the future, but for gaming purposes, I painted a different Barbarian, a guy from the mountains of Norsca, similar to the Barbarian featured in Warhammer Quest pc game (or IOS game), with more agressive and mature look. I tried to paint some TMM (true metallic metal) In the sword, but, as you can see, I am very far from master that technique haha, I am not very used to paint with those fancy styles, but sometimes I like to try "new" things. I hope you like it!

Great work. The light leather on the witch hunter looks very smooth, nice blending. Keep them coming  :)

Great work on that witch hunter!

Unfortunately I do not own that model, but I have lately been painting a few other Warhammer Quest models that I have in my collection. Earlier this year I finished the Imperial noble, and currently I have the pit fighter on my painting desk (just needing a few finishing touches and a layer of varnish). I think I have also the Bretonnian knight hiding somewhere with a coat of primer...

Hello fellow painters, I have updated my blog with a new unit for my empire army:
https://spanishleadpainting.blogspot.com/2019/11/warhammer-empire-pistoliers.html

I have managed to finish another full unit, the famous Empire pistoliers,  that fast cavalry in the renaissance German "reiter" style. In Spain, Games Workshop brand them as "Herreruelos" a type of soldier of XVI c. very similar to these Fantasy style "reiter".  I love the sculpts by the Perry brothers, with a lot of historical feel and available a lot of years in the Warhammer catalog, until their plastic substitutes came out.

The plastic horses are not bad, but horses are (for me) tedious to paint, with a ton of thin layers in the horse flesh in order to achieve a smooth finish... I am a lazy horse painter!

the riders were easy to paint, mostly blackened armour highlighted in grey, with edge highlight in silver, the red trousers and white and blue feathers give some colour to this unit.

There are some small conversions here and there, for instance, the flag bearer is a common pistolier with a hand swap, he lost his pistol and had instead a plastic knight hand with a lance, and the flag is an original 90' White Dwarf pistolier flag!! with the colours of Middenheim.   The "leader" has a plastic head from the 6th edition foot soldier command sprue.

Cheers!
