Land Dreadnaughts
«

I've long had a fondness for the ridiculous multi-turreted land-dreadnaughts that came briefly into fashion in the late 1920s and 1930s. The Soviets were the only ones to actually try using them in action, as far as I know, with their T-35 and T-28. The British A1E1 Independent never made it out of the prototype stage. The Germans built six Neubaufahrzeug of slightly different conformation,, but the nearest they came to seeing action was being sent to Norway in 1940, largely as a propaganda exercise.
I've just printed two types of Neubaufahrzeug in 1:100 scale (15mm) on my 3d printer, and this is the first one I've finished painting.

Here's the other Neubaufahrzeug. Its Balkenkreuz should really be on its turret, but getting a paintbrush in amongst that aerial is kind of tricky.

That's a spectacular collection of a fascinating period of development of tanks.

Great work, as always.
What printer do you have? (I'm considering...) And at what resolution did you print these tanks? They look good.
Thanks

How big are these compared to late war tanks such as Panther and Tiger?

And just because I can, I printed myself a SMK. It's shown here next to a Zvezda KV-1 for scale; it's not quite as monstrous as a T-35, but it's a sizeable beast.
I've removed the raft and supports, but haven't done any other cleaning up as yet. I'm not precisely sure how long it took to print; Cura predicted about 12˝ hours, so I'd guess about 15 hours. It was finished when I got up this morning, which is nice.
For reference: the printer is a Creality Ender 3, sliced by Cura, printed in PLA with raft and tree supports at 0.08mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle on a heated glass bed.

Nice work
/Trivia mode:
The KV-1 and SMK (and T-100) were all built to the same spec pretty much. They share a few bits too. They all saw action in Finland (Sledgehammer to crack a nut!) in the Experimental Heavy Tank platoon and they took part in the battle of Summa Village where the Mannerheim line was broken. the SMK was eventually imobilised by a mine in a wood pile and it was too heavy to recover (5 T-28s couldn't shift it). The Finns captured it but only managed to nick a hatch! IT was eventually recaptured then cut up for scrap. The T-100 went on to become the SU-100-Y which is still in Kubinka.
I built them in 1/48 ages ago...

One more question --
Can you share where you got the STL files for all these vehicles?

The T-35 is a Zvezda kit.
The Independent I designed myself.
The Neubaufahrzeug and SMK came from
TigerAce1945
on Thingiverse.

Without trying to steal Fitz's thunder, there's also the
Char 2C
which fits into this category. There's a QRF model.
