I admire your job as you give it a scientific approach and take care of the smallest detail! Cheers!

I do like to research so I have the choice to get things right or at least close to how it would be in real life. Not sure how scientific I approach it  :D

Science: the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Or: a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject.

In my eyes, you are pioneering the whole subject with a scientific approach and you have my full respect and admiration!  :)

I have been working on the mast extensions and the sailing rig and finally got some new WIP pics to show!  :)

Here you see the jib and genoa sails in the front ...

... and here a side view. This is the prototype model finished with "pristine" look.

Now it's time to start the weathering and then completing the final build. The old hull is waiting  :D

Almost done. After adding all the weathering, all that is left is the top mast flag. Will do that next week, with the instructions and packaging of the set.

So here is a little teaser pic of the almost finished Sloop ... with paper minis and all  :D

Its line and silhouette looking so realistic!
And the finishing touch of the weathering!  :-*
So well done! Congrats!

Thank you guys! I am very proud how it turned out and it's great to hear you also enjoy her.

I will be looking forward to hear from first builders how they experience the build process. I think she is quite easy to build, but of course I might have developed a blind spot or tunnel vision to be able to give a objective opinion  :D

I found great white cardboard plates in the hobby shop, which will help me a big deal taking photos esp. with the larger ship. The old setup was too small   :)

Today I made a little fun pic with some monster minis. I call it "Trouble on sea"  :D

A new year, a new model  :D I have started working on the next ship in the line: the Brig!

Here's my first concept sketch.

It will be a little larger than the Sloop. The hull will be apx 16" long (the Sloop was 12") and have a true raised deck at the back. I might do an optional raised deck in the bow section, but not sure about an forecastle for space reasons. Might leave that one for the Galleon.

Progress will probably be a little bit slower as I am also working on a building project at the same time. Or I just have to speed up!  :D

Here is a first look at my half scale prototype for the ships hull. Just figuring out the overall geometry and starting to think about figure head section in the front and possible hull variation details.

The sloop came out perfect and you made a really fun pic!
The brig, oh my! You have very good 3-D sense!
So beautiful hull lines! Cheers!

Over the weekend I have started to adapt the brig parts to the full scale (double of the prototype). This requires some splitting up of parts and finding the right splits for overlap gluing.

I was able to do the core layer and the outer hull and got this test build done...

Due to the missing inner hull and deck parts the sides are a little to wide. The missing parts will keep them in the right shape. But other than that you get a good idea of the shape.

Here is a comparison with the previous ship models. Makes the size pop  :D

I am really excited about this ship. This month I am just working on the weekends on this (as I am working on another project) but next week will be 100% brig time!!!
