I bought a case at the DIY and filled it with foam trays. It is some work to cut the foamtrays but that way you can cut cut them exactly to the sizes you need, be it for infantry, monsters or vehicles.
It is best cut with a sharp kitchen knife.

I just ordered some Neodym magnets for my current WAB Normans project. That way I can store them safely and with a magnetic movement tray they're also easier to handle on the battlefield.
I was there the day that Horus fell.

Seen those cases used before. A cheap alternative to the 'Company'-cases...

The Problem with the magnetic foil is that it is not very strong. I started basing my minis with these foils but they tend to fall over when you carry them around. I would only recommend the foil for bases that are really big and not too heavy (Cars, Coaches etc)  because you need the surface to make it strong enough.

I print name tags for my armies, stick them to the foil and then use these to label my metal cases...

I think I used 6mm*3mm, but a friend of mine bought smaller ones and they work fine aswell. They are so strong it doesn't really matter if they are smaller...
