Cool! Where did you source the spear arms?

Victrix, mostly the Rus and Late Roman sets as they have more full length arms.

Final day of Easter holidays. I ended up not running any demo games as I've been dealing with a cold for the whole week. Just bad enough to not want to talk to anyone, but mild enough to carry on with hobby.

Finished the Handgunner mercenaries. They get blackened steel armour which will be a bit of a signum for mercenary units. As Warriors, they also carry swords and bucklers to signal that they can put up a fight in melee.

And some levy crossbows. Muted colour scheme and Oathmark heads like the bow levy posted earlier.

And slogging on with assembling cavalry. I've done 50 of the 64 planned now.

Eight mounted men-at-arms, with some Barbute heads from the European Mercenaries. Two of them stolen from previous projects, hence the paint remnant on there.

Eight mounted warriors - using lots of kettle helms for these as I love the look. I quite enjoy that the Perrys in the light cavalry kit suddenly have a reference to scandinavian troops, completely absent from their other kits.

Eight more, using some Victrix arms to make really light looking cavalry. In the back row, two future banner bearers using Oathmark arms.

And finally another mercenary unit, Mounted Crossbowmen.

Oops, guess I forgot to post this mounted warlord conversion. I cut the torso off the same body I used for the foot warlord, and used some greenstuff to extend the coat over his hips. Some horse armour from the Agincourt set for this version, but I will also build a version with plate barding later.

Thanks

Thanks guys!

Speaking of cavalry, here are the Lombard Lancers completed:

And a bonus Knight on foot. This is a hero mercenary with some fun abilities. I gave him some fancier black armour to distinguish him from my other men at arms on foot.

The high contrast between the bright yellow and the blackened armour is great!

It is a classic contrast. i used it on my Francesco Gonzaga vignette (in 2011???);

Thanks everyone! I had considered a black and yellow scheme for this force first, before settling on the yellow and green. Nice to hark back to that with the black armour on mercenaries.

Now, did I really need more kits for this army? Maybe not, but I couldn't resist picking up another set of European Mercenaries. I'll get back to what I am planning to do with those, but for now I built another four men-at-arms (hearthguard in SAGA terms) with barded horses. These all use the lovely barbute helms from the European Mercenaries command frame.

As I've been building my heavy cavalry, I decided that there was not enough variation in poses with the lances. Only one of the three bodies I use even has a matching arm with couched lance, the other couched lance on the sprue is for the bodies with livery coats, and I used those in a whole nother unit. So I want back and changed all my heavy cavalry to wielding hand weapons, giving much greater variety in poses.

Here is the whole set of barded heavy cav:

And then I quite quickly finished the other mercenary cavalry unit, the Foreign Men-at-arms. These were painted to match their foot versions which I posted earlier. A quick job, just some speed paints for the horses, but turned out pretty good I think.

You are doing a great job! There are a lot of inspirations which can get picked up at your thread. And the high pace of your work is astounding  o_o

Thank you!

Bit of a milestone today, I finished building the last of my cavalry figures! I now have everything built from the initial plan, and plenty to play with. I think I will try to hold off on building the last set of European Mercenaries, and try to play a bit and explore what I want to do with them before comitting.

Last eight Light Cavalry, two with Victrix arms, a hornblower with an Oathmark head, and five regular light lancers. Some of the heads are from the European Mercenaries command frame as well.

And then my mounted Warlord with barded horse. Same conversion as the regular mounted version.

To show you just how much cavalry I ended up with, I had to clear out a whole shelf for just cavalry as there were too many horses to share space with the infantry:
