Musketeer Russians and Old Glory Austin
« on: May 27, 2009, 10:01:50 PM »
Hi there,

Haven't been on here for ages as unfortunately this site has been blocked at work  :(, and with our new arrival in the house I hardly get a chance to surf at home nowadays.  :)  I bought the musketeer russian sentry pack at Carronade earlier this month so far I've only managed to paint 2 of them.  I'm fairly pleased with how they came out it was my 1st real go at doing some stubble on the faces.  I bought one of the Old Glory Austins at Carronade as well, the other I've had for some time, they are quite nice big models though possibly a bit oversized for most 28mm figures. Any comments welcome.

cheers Andy

Nice painting and great figures too - what a grumpy looking g*t that Russian is!

Nicely done. very neat. Lots of character. Nicely finished, slightly eccentric old armoured cars. What's not to like?  :)

Nicely done.  Really must order some Musketeer minis one of these days.  The sentry looks a lot like Peter Lorre!

Very good stuff, as an avid painter of russians myself, I think those are lovely. :-*

Loved the AC's too

What did you use as the unifrom colour, a drab of some sort?

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. The uniform colour is based on the foundry 'moss' 3 colour set.  I think its a bit lighter than I was originally trying to go for, but perhaps I can get away with it and say its 'washed out and weathered'.  ;). Both the figures have really well sculpted faces which made them great fun to paint.  My hat goes off to musketeer miniatures for these figures, i'm looking forward to getting more once the finances improve and the painting 'to do' list creeps down a bit. For now its back to painting my Scarab KuK forces :).

Oh that's what I have used, just seemed to be a different colour.

How do they match up size wise with Copplestone and Artisan

cheers

Great work. The photos of your figures are fantastic. Nicely painted, shaded figures and the vehicles are very well done too. Should have entered them in the LPL!!

Looks good. I always thought the Old Glory ACs would be to small, but they look really nice, better than my sloppy jaloppy one. I guess I have to give the OG Lancaster a try..

I was thinking about them and I like them will need to have a look at getting some they have come out really well.

dont know about Artisan as I dont have any, they are a wee bit smaller than copplestone but nothing too drastic, I'll try and take a couple of comparative shots when I get the chance.

The Old Glory Austin is pretty big and almost certainly oversized for there own figures.  the resin hull needs a bit of a clean up in places and I probably should have done a bit more than i did, but overall I really like the models, am thinking of adding some shields round the guns as most of the austins i've seen photos of have them.

thanks again for the complements  :)

cheers

Andy
